Okay, what is the official title of this song by The Power Station? Casey always referred to it as Bang A Gong (Get It On) The Hot 100 lists it every week as Get It On (Bang A Gong) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Get_It_On_(T._Rex_song) doesn't help, as it lists it BOTH ways!

It is listed as "Get It On" in Joel Whitburn's Billboard Book of Top 40 Hits.

Never fear -- I have the vinyl single. . .
Hmm. Interestingly, it's just "Get it On." I guess that's consistent with the posts just above mine -- but I always thought there was a parenthetical "Bang a Gong" along with it.

My 45 for The Power Station's version says "Get It On (Bang A Gong)" on the label itself but it's a radio promo copy so it's not the official public release, which is what I assume coldcardinal has. That said, my picture sleeve for it just says "Get It On".
As mentioned on that Wikipedia page, the original T.Rex version was also called "Get It On" in the UK but was re-titled "Bang A Gong (Get It On)" in the U.S. to avoid confusion with Chase's minor Top 40 hit "Get It On" which had been released just months earlier.

^^ Ahh, that seems to solve the mystery. (And yes, mine is not a promo copy)

Well the one thing it doesn't explain is why Casey always announced it as Bang A Gong.
Even if the T Rex hit was renamed, you'd think he'd go with the name of the Power Station record... especially since that's how the Hot 100 listed it too.
Strange!
