Careless Whisper

Careless Whisper is designated as a RE-ENTRY on the Dec 22 1984 chart. That sounds right to me, however, when did it have its first chart run? I've searched the Hot 100 charts for the 80's several times and I can't find it anywhere prior to that date.

Is it a misprint? Perhaps the single was released previously, but didn't actually hit the Hot 100? Or is my eyesight getting so bad that I just can't find it?

It's a misprint, as it never charted on the Hot 100 prior to that week. And I can't find any record of it being released earlier in the US; it was first issued in Europe around the same time that "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" was released in the States.

I assumed it must have been listed correctly, because I think I remember hearing that the song was recorded a few years prior to the Make It Big album was released. So I thought it could be possible that it was released at some point prior to its 1985 run. But apparently not! A Hot 100 misprint!
