According to the Wikipedia article on Mediabase, the charts are going to be for paying customers only as of 8/1/08.
Does this mean that the pdf files on the mediabasemusic site will also go to pay only, as well as the charts on americasmusiccharts.com ?

Does this also mean that we won't be able to look up the chart in USA Today, as Ryan Seacrest urges us to do on the show? (Though I often notice that what's published on the paper on Tuesday or Wednesday is not the same as what I heard Ryan count down on Sunday--is the USAT one the following week's chart?) I presume that the official AT40 site will still list it, for those of us who were at church or doing something else when the show aired? (or, often in my case, flipping back and forth between Casey's 70s AT40 rebroadcasts and Ryan counting down the current hits, which are aired at the same time locally.)

This is what the article says:
However, according to a decision made by the Mediabase management, the charts will be available to the general public after August 1, 2008. Even though a password would be required to access the charts, registering would be free of cost and open to everyone, not just those in the radio and music industry.
The following Mediabase airplay charts were previously available to the general public, but are currently unavailable. Whether they will return is currently unknown.

Well the 8/1 date has come and gone, and those previously available charts are still gone.
What irks me is that there's no explanation from Mediabase itself of why they're gone, and there's no public email to contact them for an explanation. Surely someone who reads this board (and who doesn't necessarily work for Mediabase) can contact them or provide a contact so that we can at least provide an accurate explanation.

The charts appeared in yesterday's edition of USA Today.

Just noticed today that www.mediabasemusic.com has changed and no longer allows you to get pdf versions of the charts anymore. Also, as of 6am edt, the charts only show the top 30 with recurrents after that. It looks like Mediabase is really clamping down. It's going to be a sad day if bds provides its full charts for free (via R&R) but Mediabase won't.

So far, All Access still provides access to the Mediabase charts (you do have to register, but it's free).
