I was driving home from Boyne Falls, MI yesterday, where I was attending a bikeriding festival, and I listened to the AT40 show from 8-26-78, you know, the AT40 show that aired the first Long Distance Dedication. While I was listening to that first LDD, Casey said, "I got a letter from a teenager about a girl who he feel in love with, and later left for overseas, his story and dedication is coming up". He didn't say that a Long Dedication Dedication was coming up. At the end of "Desiree" by Neil Diamond, he said that "We have never done this before, where we would aired a dedication for a fan." The first LDD marked a brand new era for American Top 40.
