Hey,
In case you don't watch WGN, they are making an attempt to rebrand the national channel as "WGN America" adding some new "classic" programming like WKRP in Cincinnati and Mary Tyler Moore, giving the channel a new slogan ("TV you can't ignore") and logo, and making a few other changes.
One of them is adding Casey Kasem to do voiceovers/promos for the channel.
Just a heads up since I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere else on the site yet.

Hey Jason,
good news ! Thanks for posting about this ! Couldn't think of a better voice for promoting the channel. You haven't seen anything like that on this site lately ...... because it seems SOME of the people out here are busy with "predicting" and "guessing" and speculating about Casey's end and who might get his job on the 2 shows. But I think Casey always knew: If you don't go forward, you go backwards. If you don't change things, they'll change you.

Our local cable provider here in Connecticut doesn't offer WGN-Too bad-I would've loved to have heard Casey's promos.

Over the last couple of years, I have heard a lot of people say their cable operator doesn't carry it. I find that odd, because other than a 2-3 year contract dispute, the local cable provider here has ALWAYS had the show and both satellite companies have it too. Just seems almost as much apart of the basic cable universe to me as CNN, ESPN, and TBS.

Who's Anti-Casey? Last I checked, it's the Seacrest thread that is dormant.

Charlie,
I think you got your signals crossed somehow. From what I see, most people on this board are fans of Casey and of the years he hosted American Top 40 as well as American Top 20 and American Top 10 which he still hosts. Many of us also like the AT40 shows hosted by Shadoe Stevens and Casey's Top 40 and its AC and HAC versions.

pzimm7700Caseyfan4everRyanfanNeverIt is true that the Seacrest thread is dormant, wich - in my eyes - reflects the true interest in this programme. It is called "American Top 40", but as I mentioned in the past, it is not in the box what most of us out here reflect to be. Not another host for the same programme, but a different programme with the name of something very familiar. You can put it on hundreds of stations, the interest for this might not be the same as a Casey show on a much smaller number of outlets. Talking about Casey and AT10/AT20 does not naturally mean to be a true fan of Casey. Sometimes I think: Do they know what they are talking about ? Are they giving that much support to Casey and the staff as they diserve for entertaining us for nearly 4 decades ? Some of the "Fans" on this board are just posting to get noticed. They have to say something about each and everything ..... and due to that declare themselves as "FANS" of Casey and the show. If they would be FANS, they would think about their thoughts BEFORE they post them to the eyes of the world. Many threads sound like if they are Anti-Casey, so Charlie is right ! I'm for the freedom of speech, but sometimes I wish Scott would be a little rougher on deleting messages and dropping people from the board. The quality of this board should be "less is more" to honor the countdown master and his work. It should be noticed, that the known and accredited biggest fans of Casey have the fewest postings on this board. That should make SOME people think about it.

Radioman, You are entitled to your opinion about the newer version of American Top 40, however I would contest one of your points. The lack of interest on this board does not show the interest level in this show overall. It shows a lack of interest from the people (most of which have been posting on here for years) who post on this board. There are not hundreds of thousands of posters on here. It isn't the official message board of anything so it is really a niche product that just a few show interest in posting on. And since the few posters who post have been doing so since the Casey Kasem AT40 days, you cannot judge interest in the current AT40 from it anymore than you can judge a Democratic candidates overall popularity attending Republican Fundraising rally. Now, I agree with you and have stated on here before that I believe some issues over the shows, changes made, and just in general regarding Casey Kasem in the past that people complain about is making mountains out of molehills, and on a couple of occasions creating Mount Rushmore out of flatland. And there are times I have rolled my eyes at topics, or posts (as many have done with me I am sure in my old screen name), but everyone is entitled to their opinion and as long as comments are made respectfully regardless of what the topic is, I see no problem with that.

To be a fan of Casey and his shows does not mean that one has to unconditionally love everything about the shows. I do not like the recent changes to the style of AT20. Does that mean I do not support Casey or the show? Of course not.
AT20 is my favorite of the current shows, and I hope it continues for a long time. If they changed the show for the sake of change, that's bad, in my opinion of course. Do I believe that the show is at its end, no. However if enough bigwigs at Premiere were to ever think they could make more money with AT40 HAC than with AT20, they will end it, regardless of Casey and his legacy.
I also support Casey. If Casey wants to continue to count down the hits for a long time, great. If Casey ever wants to hang it up and enjoy retirement, more power to him. He deserves it.

I've thought more about what I posted and better understand the point that was made by Charlypp. The idea is that these shows have been made available and Casey has worked hard throughout the 38 years he's been "counting down the hits" to ensure that they are available for a new generation to hear and for long time fans to enjoy once again. We should keep this in mind and not over-exaggerate minor problems with the show or speculate about the future of the show.
