I wish I could attend-Casey Kasem is an iconic figure in the world of broadcasting & it would've been fun to hear some great anecdotes, just like the ones he tells on the radio.

Bummer! It looks like we lost our posts on our Casey Kasem day experiences in Fenton, Michigan. I could only attend the evening concert with rocker John Waite which Casey was there. It was very nice of Casey to assist to raise funds to benefit the Fenton Community & Cultural Center.

It was very nice of Casey to assist to raise funds to benefit the Fenton Community & Cultural Center. 10 years ago this weekend... unfortunately, a technical glitch wiped out our original comments. But here's another recap of Casey Kasem Day, a $75/person community benefit on Saturday, April 26, 2008: *3:00pm - screening of Scooby Doo & The Monster of Mexico (Casey was there for the movie's introduction, announcement of Scooby Doo coloring contest winners, and a Scooby Doo impersonation contest) *5:00pm - Before Glow Dinner (consisting of Casey being presented with a couple of local awards and after-dinner banter between Casey and a local deejay) *8:00pm - AT40 Unplugged (concert with singer John Waite; Casey made an on-stage appearance for a Key To The City presentation) *10:00pm - After Glow Reception (deejay music, dancing, hors d'oeuvres, cash bar; photo opportunities with Casey) Business marquees, posters, and newspaper write-ups promoted the event. And although it was a long day for an aging Casey Kasem, his kids - Kerri, Mike, and Julie - were also present for the festivities.

Looking back, I am so fortunate to have attended the event. Casey definitely was showing his age, moreso than I expected for sure. He was extremely kind and courteous to all he interacted with. I spent about 10 minutes with him talking about radio, bragging about how at the time I had the great pleasure of following him on the air after AT20 on Sundays, and after a minute or two of fan gushing we actually had a nice conversation about the current state of radio, etc. He was happy to pose for some pictures with me and I will never, ever forget the time I got to spend with Casey.

I would have loved to go to that. Didn't you win a contest to meet Casey in NYC too? Maybe I'm mistaken?
