I guess that I am still trying to catch myself up. Last month, there was an episode from 1973. I did not hear it, but I did recognize some of the songs on the list, and I want to offer my thoughts on them. I think that the episode was from November 3, 1973.
40. GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD- Elton John- Elton John has had so many songs to chart that I have never heard a lot. However, I like his music very much. Perhaps I will hear this song soon on the radio. 39. ROCKY MOUNTAIN WAY- Joe Walsh- I have not heard this song recently. Was he ever associated with The Eagles? 36. CHINA GROVE- The Doobie Brothers- This song always gets me to feel good! My favorite songs from The Doobie Brothers include "China Grove", "Listen To The Music", and "One Step Closer". 25. WE'RE AN AMERICAN BAND- Grand Funk Railroad- I do not remember how this song sounds. 15. I GOT A NAME- Jim Croce- What happened to Jim Croce (his plane crash) is very tragic. I think that he especially believed in the words of this song. 14. THAT LADY- The Isley Brothers- I first learned this song when there was a play at my elementary school. I do not remember it well, however I think that music from different periods of time were highlighted. 12. KNOCKIN' ON HEAVEN'S DOOR- Bob Dylan- This song appeared in the movie "Lethal Weapon 2", but I do not know if this version is the one that was used. 11. PHOTOGRAPH- Ringo Starr- There is something special about songs that involved work from former members of The Beatles. They have a distinct sound. This was a great song. 8. LET'S GET IT ON- Marvin Gaye- This song is definitely a classic. 7. RAMBLIN' MAN- The Allman Brothers Band- When it is time to leave, he wants you to understand that he was born a Ramblin' Man. I remember hearing this song on American Top 40 last year. I think that it peaked at #2. 6. HEARTBEAT...IT'S A LOVEBEAT- The DeFranco Family- I have read the list from Blackbowl, which appears some pages back. When I first heard this song, I really did think that it was performed by The Osmonds (I judge from their that I do know). 2. ANGIE- The Rolling Stones- If I correctly remember, this song first appeared in the American Top 40 at a high position. However, this may be a mistake; I could be thinking about another song. 1. MIDNIGHT TRAIN TO GEORGIA- Gladys Knight and The Pips- I need to listen to this song more. What is strange is that I have heard it a lot.
The station that I listen to does not play the Optional Extra songs, so I will list one of my own:
SPATER, WANN IST DAS?- Monica Morell- I am not sure how to type umlauts (two dots over the letters), but they should appear above the "A" in "Spater". This is the only single that I have from Swiss singer Monica Morell (1953-2008). It peaked at #30 in January of 1974 on the German music charts (I hope that the peak date is correct; I read this on Wikipedia, but I prefer to check different sources because there may be some incorrect information).
This list was not very great (compared to others that I read here), and it is a little late, but I did my best (especially because I am at the library). Thank you for reading.

Greetings!
I am not all that familiar with many songs from the early 1970's. Of course, there are some songs that I know and that I like. I want to list some from an episode that I heard a few weeks ago. I think that they were supposed to play an episode from 1976, but, for a reason, they sometimes switched to a different one. Anyway, I will list a few songs from that episode: October 23, 1971.
24. CHIRPY CHIRPY CHEEP CHEEP- Mac and Katie Kissoon- I really liked this song! I do not know why they decided to switch episodes when a commercial break ended. 22. STICK UP- The Honey Cone- I am more familiar with their song called "Want Ads", however this was another great song. Actually, it reminded me of "Want Ads". 4. GYPSIES, TRAMPS AND THEIVES- Cher- It is possible that I did not spell the word "Gypsies" correctly. I heard this song on a commercial for music a few years ago. 1. MAGGIE MAY- Rod Stewart- Maggie stole his heart and hurt him. Please recover!
This is my own extra song:
FREMDER MANN- Marianne Rosenberg- This is one of her first singles to be released. It is also one of my favorite songs from her. She expresses her desire to love another person. This single was released in 1971, and it peaked at No. 8 in Germany.
Thank you for reading (although there was not a lot to read).

Greetings!
I have enjoyed typing these reviews. I only joined in the summer of this year. I have not been able to access the Internet lately, so I cannot come here as often. However I want to list some songs from an episode I heard in the past weeks. I was surprised by how many songs that I did not know, however I must expect this. I was not alive in 1980, and I am not familiar with many songs from that year.
This episode is from October 25, 1980
40. NEVER BE THE SAME- Christopher Cross- I seem to remember that this was the first week that this song appeared in the American Top 40. 39. YOU SHOOK ME ALL NIGHT LONG- AC/DC- I hear this song many times on the radio. It is sad that their former lead singer, Bon Scott, died in 1979. 37. TOUCH AND GO- The Cars- I have never heard this song on the radio! It is rather interesting. I like many of their other songs, such as "Magic", "Just What I Needed", and "Let's Go". 26. MORE THAN I CAN SAY- Leo Sayer- I just do not remember how many of these songs sound (though I did like them). I do remember this song, however. 23. YOU'VE LOST THAT LOVING FEELING- Daryl Hall and John Oates- This was an excellent performance. I have not heard the original version many times. 21. WHIP IT- Devo- Crack that whip! 16. DREAMIN'- Cliff Richard- I liked this song. 15. MASTER BLASTER- Stevie Wonder- I have heard this song on the radio. 13. DRIVIN' MY LIFE AWAY- Eddie Rabbitt- This was another great song. Rest In Peace, Eddie Rabbitt. 11. I'M COMING OUT- Diana Ross- This was the first of two songs from Diana Ross that appeared in this list. 10. NEVER KNEW LOVE LIKE THIS BEFORE- Stephanie Mills- It is possible that this is my favorite song in this list! It is very beautiful, and I was very happy to hear it. It reminds me of a sunny day. 9. I'M ALRIGHT- Kenny Loggins- I have never seen this movie "Caddyshack". I must watch it eventually. 4. UPSIDE DOWN- Diana Ross- This was her second song in the list. It is great! 3. HE'S SO SHY- The Pointer Sisters- Some of the parts of this song describe my personality. 2. ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST- Queen- I have never understood what this song is about. However, I like it! It is very sad that Freddie Mercury (the lead singer) is no longer alive. This is true for many people. He died on November 24, 1991, if I have read correctly. 1. WOMAN IN LOVE- Barbra Streisand- This is one of the songs that reached the No. 1 position, but I do not hear it very much.
Here is my own extra song:
DER TEUFEL UND DER JUNGE MANN- Paola- I think that I noted this song in the last episode that I heard from 1980. It is a cute song about a riddle that a boy asks the devil. Paola (from Switzerland) sings the verses, and a choir of children sing during the chorus. It peaked at No. 5 in Germany.
I really like to read all of the reviews on this Website. They give me much information. I hope to come back here more often. Thank you for reading.

What game? Grand Theft Auto? This is a rather late response, however I have had only a little access to the Internet lately. This is the game. However, I had heard the song before. I do not play it as much as I did before. Earlier this year, I had a bad dream about something horrible.

Greetings!
I only have a little time right now, so I will only list a few songs from the episode of American Top 40 The 80's that I heard on Sunday. It was from October 23, 1982.
40. GET CLOSER- Linda Ronstadt- I think I remember that this song sounded different from others that I know that she sings. 39. ROCK THIS TOWN- The Stray Cats- I first heard this song on a commercial featuring a collection of classic music. 36. TRULY- Lionel Richie- This was a great song. 34. MICKEY- Toni Basil- He is so fine that he blows her mind. 32. STEPPIN' OUT- Joe Jackson- I hear this song on a video game that I used to play. I have began to play it again, and this song fits in nicely. 31. YOU DROPPED A BOMB ON ME- The Gap Band- This is another good song. I hear it on the radio frequently. 25. NOBODY- Sylvia- Earlier in 2013, I found a copy of the album that features this song, called "Just Sylvia". I was surprised to hear that many of the songs featured a country sound. I also like her picture; she is beautiful. Later, I found another album from Sylvia from 1983 (the date listed on the cover). This one is called "Snapshot". I have listened to this album more than the other one. My favorite songs on it include "The Boy Gets Around" and "So Complete". 24. YOU DON'T WANT ME ANYMORE- Steel Breeze- I agree with Hervard that this song sounds similar to Rick Springfield's works. 22. LOVE COME DOWN- Evelyn King- I hear this song on the radio on occassions. 18. EYE OF THE TIGER- Survivor- The same applies with this song. 16. HARD TO SAY I'M SORRY- Chicago- This was a great song. 15. HOLD ON- Santana- I do not remember this song very well, however I did like it. 14. GLORIA- Laura Branigan- I love this song! It appears on her album "Branigan". I wish that I had the opportunity to watch her perform live. 12. GYPSY- Fleetwood Mac- This song makes me want to drive when the sun begins to set. 10. ABRACADABRA- The Steve Miller Band- This was a good song. 9. I RAN (SO FAR AWAY)- A Flock Of Seagulls- This song is also featured in the video game that I mentioned above. 7. SOMEBODY'S BABY- Jackson Browne- If I remember right, Casey Kasem mentioned that Jackson Browne has much respect from other musicians. I understand this. 6. HEART ATTACK- OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN- This was another good song. 5. UP WHERE WE BELONG- Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes- This was a great duet. I hope that Mr. Cocker was, and still is, able to defeat the problems. 4. I KEEP FORGETTIN'- Michael McDonald- I did not forget this song. I liked it. 3. EYE IN THE SKY- The Alan Parsons Project- This song features some scary lyrics. They remind me of the book "1984". 2. WHO CAN IT BE NOW- Men At Work- I wonder who is knocking at the door? 1. JACK AND DIANE- John Cougar- I hear this song on the radio many times.
Here is my own extra song:
NUR GETRAUMT- Nena- The title is spelled with umlauts above the "A" in "Getraumt". Although I do not remember this song very well, I do like the song on the opposite side, titled "Ganz Oben". That song is about flying. "Nur Getraumt" charted in places such as Germany, Austria, and Switzerland in 1982.
Thank you for reading.

I have missed some of the episodes, and I have not had access to a computer, so I want to provide my thoughts on some of the episodes from October.
I did not hear very much of the episode from 1974, which was about two weeks ago. I think it sounded better than another recent episode, from September of 1976. Although I liked the songs very much, the sound was unusual.
Oh no! I missed the episode from 1983. I was busy that day, and I only heard the two highest songs: "Making Love Out Of Nothing At All", and "Total Eclipse Of The Heart". However, they did play an episode from this month of that year, so I am happy.
When I heard the episode from 1977, it rained outside. I liked all of the songs. I will list my extra song (the station that I listen to does not play the Optional Extra songs anymore, that I see the people guess each week). Here it is:
BLUE BAYOU- Paola- I had a chance to listen to this song when I took the record to my uncle's home earlier this year. If I remember right, according to the data on the cover, it was originally performed by Roy Orbison. Paola sings in German, and it charted in Germany and Switzerland in 1978.
I was surprised to hear another episode from 1987 so soon. For some reason, I thought that they would choose 1980. I have not heard an episode from that year in a long time. However, it featured some great songs. I liked the songs "Doing It All For My Baby", "Lost In Emotion", and others.

Greetings!
This list will be from the episode of 1981, which I heard on Sunday. I did not know many of the songs, however I did recognize most of the artists. This episode was from September 26, 1981.
40. SAY GOODBYE TO HOLLYWOOD- Billy Joel- I do not think that I have ever heard this song before. If I correctly remember, it sounded like a live performance. 39. STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART- The Allman Brothers Band- I definitely do not know this song. Still, it was great. I am more familiar with the song "Ramblin' Man". 38. SOME DAYS ARE DIAMONDS- John Denver- In 2012, I heard another episode of American Top 40 from 1981. This song was on the list. 37. FIRE AND ICE- Pat Benatar- This is interesting. Here are four songs that I do not seem to hear on the radio very often. In this song, she does not seem to be happy with the person she sings to. Although they light up like a flame, they turn a cold shoulder. I believe that the lyrics were similar to this. 36. REALLY WANNA KNOW YOU- Gary Wright- I heard this song on the last episode of American Top 40 from 1981. 35. SHE'S A BAD MAMA JAMA- Carl Carlton- This is the first song that I recognize. THE BREAKUP SONG- The Greg Kihn Band- This was a great song. I am more familiar with their song "Jeopardy". 31. TRYIN' TO LIVE MY LIFE WITHOUT YOU- Bob Seger- This was a great live performance! 30. WHEN SHE WAS MY GIRL- The Four Tops- This was another great song!I believe that Casey Kasem mentioned that, although the lead singer had received many offers to perform alone, he stayed with the band. 29. COOL LOVE- Pablo Cruise- I really like this song! It appears on their album, "Reflector". 28. DRAW OF THE CARDS- Kim Carnes- This is such a scary song, especially with the laughter at the end. I have seen the video of this song, and it is very unusual. 27. WE'RE IN THIS LOVE TOGETHER- Al Jarreau- Although I do not remember this song very well, I loved it! 26. I'VE DONE EVERYTHING FOR YOU- Rick Springfield- This was a great song. 25. THE THEME FROM "GREATEST AMERICAN HERO" (BELIEVE IT OR NOT)- Joey Scarbury- This was another great song! BREAKING AWAY- Balance- This was a great song, as well as one of my favorites on this list. 21. I COULD NEVER MISS YOU (MORE THAN I DO)- Lulu- This was another favorite of mine! IN YOUR LETTER- REO Speedwagon- I agree that this song features a sound that dates to the 1960s. 19. SHARE YOUR LOVE- Kenny Rogers- This was a good song. 18. PRIVATE EYES- Daryl Hall and John Oates- I also agree that this song sounds similiar to "Kiss On My List". 17. THE NIGHT OWLS- The Little River Band- I do not remember this song well. However, I do know songs such as "Reminiscing" and "Cool Change". 16. THE VOICE- The Moody Blues- This was a great song. I could recognize the artist by the sound of the song. It sounded similar to "Your Wildest Dreams". 15. JESSIE'S GIRL- Rick Springfield- I definitely know this song. 14. FOR YOUR EYES ONLY- Sheena Easton- This song sounded somewhat scary. However, this, along with its beauty, is what I like about it. 13. THE BEACH BOYS MEDLEY- The Beach Boys- I was not able to hear this song. 12. SLOW HAND- The Pointer Sisters- I also missed this song. However, I have heard that it is great. 11. HOLD ON TIGHT- ELO- This was a good song. 10. START ME UP- The Rolling Stones- I hear this song many times. 9. LADY YOU BRING ME UP- The Commodores- This is a great song! 8. STEP BY STEP- Eddie Rabbitt- This was a good song, although I do not remember it very well. 7. ARTHUR'S THEME (THE BEST THAT YOU CAN DO)- Christopher Cross- I think that this song reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It is great! 6. WHO'S CRYING NOW- Journey- I love the guitars at the end of this song. 5. THERE'S NO GETTING OVER ME- Ronnie Milsap- Once again, this is another great song! 4. URGENT- Foreigner- When I heard this song last year, Casey Kasem mentioned something about the number "4". 3. STOP DRAGGIN' MY HEART AROUND- Stevie Nicks with Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers- This is great! I heard this song on American Top 40 in 2012. 2. QUEEN OF HEARTS- Juice Newton- This song appears on a Compact Disc that I have. It features music hits from 1981. 1. ENDLESS LOVE- Diana Ross and Lionel Richie- This was a great duet. It passed much time at the #1 position.
Here is my own extra song:
GEH NICHT- Hanne Haller- In this song, she sings about her troubled relationship. It reached #23 in Germany in 1981 (although I am not sure about the month).
Thank you for reading.

When I heard the episode from 1976 yesterday, it sounded unusual. Some of the sounds were muffled, and the songs sounded higher. Also, sometimes when a commercial intermission is about to begin, Casey Kasem will give information, and music will play in the background. When he stopped talking, the music sounded better.
When the show ended, the date he mentioned was September of 1978. All of it is very unusual to me.

THERE GOES MY BABY- Donna Summer- I remember that I missed this song, so I do not know how it sounds. 25. THE LUCKY ONE- Laura Branigan- This was a great song! I have a Compact Disc which features some of her biggest hit songs, and this was on it. Also, I purchased her first album, "Branigan", and I love all of the songs on it. ROCK ME TONIGHT- Billy Squier- I heard this song on the last episode from 1984. 23. WHEN DOVES CRY- Prince- I am not sure if this song is credited to Prince or Prince and The Revolution. CRUEL SUMMER- Bananarama- This was a great song, despite the fact that it makes me think of the very hot days. 9. I JUST CALLED TO SAY I LOVE YOU- Stevie Wonder- This was another great song! 8. THE GLAMOUROUS LIFE- Sheila E.- This song was written by Prince. I did not know this until I researched this song. 7. THE WARRIOR- Scandal- This was a great song! 6. IF THIS IS IT- Huey Lewis and The News- I think I remember seeing part of the music video for this song. The members of the band were at a beach or a lake. Greetings Everyone!
I will list songs from the episode of September 23, 1978.
40. HEARTBREAKER- Dolly Parton- This was a good song to start off the countdown. Casey Kasem listed some of her other songs, including one called "Here You Come Again". I remember hearing that song earlier this year. 39. PARADISE BY THE DASHBOARD LIGHT- Meatloaf- This song was filled with a large amount of energy! So much happened in it. Some parts seemed like rock music, and others reminded me of Disco. 38. DEVOTED TO YOU- James Taylor and Carly Simon- This was a great duet. I like songs that both of the people sing by themselves. 37. ALMOST LIKE BEING IN LOVE- Michael Johnson- This was a good song, however I do not remember it very well. 36. JOSIE- Steely Dan- I also do not remember this song. 35. BEAST OF BURDEN- The Rolling Stones- When I first heard this song in the year 2011, I thought that it was released in the 1960's. I liked this song; it was one of my favorites on this countdown. 34. MAGNET AND STEEL- Walter Egan- This was a good song. 33. MISS YOU- The Rolling Stones- This was their second song on this list. 32. 5-7-0-5- City Boy- Unfortunately, I do not remember this song very well. 31. WHO ARE YOU- The Who- Originally, I had believed that this song was released in the early 1970's. 28. YOU NEVER DONE IT LIKE THAT- Captain and Tennille- This was a nice song that I had never before heard. 27. JUST WHAT I NEEDED- The Cars- This was a great song! 26. 25. COME TOGETHER- Aerosmith- This version sounded very much like the version from The Beatles. I wonder if I have heard both and thought that they were the same? 24. BACK IN THE U.S.A.- Linda Ronstadt- I love her voice. There is not an illness that can make me forget this. 23. GREASE- Frankie Valli- I think that Casey Kasem said that members of the Bee Gees wrote this song. 22. 21. GET OFF- Foxy- I recall that Casey Kasem told of this band's difficulties in playing this song at a club (or a restaurant). 20. RIGHT DOWN THE LINE- Gerry Rafferty- This was a great song! 19. SHAME- Evelyn "Champagne" King- She had such a deep voice in this song. 18. 17. GOT TO GET YOU INTO MY LIFE- Earth, Wind and Fire- I do not know this song as well as I do others that they sing. 16. WHENEVER I CALL YOU FRIEND- Kenny Loggins with Stevie Nicks- It is possible that this was my favorite song on this list. I absolutely love it! 15. HOT CHILD IN THE CITY- Nick Gilder- When I first heard this song in 2009, I thought that it was performed by a woman! However, during the song, he sings to a woman. 8. HOT BLOODED- Foreigner- This was a great song. 7. DON'T LOOK BACK- Boston- This song makes me feel optimistic. 6. SUMMER NIGHTS- Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta- I spent much time trying to figure out who sang this song, and I learned in 2011. 5. AN EVERLASTING LOVE- Andy Gibb- I wish that I could hear this song more often on the radio. I should make a list of songs to request. 4. THREE TIMES A LADY- The Commodores- It seems that the summer was coming to its end on this date in 1978. This seemed like a good song to end it, I think. 3. HOPELESSLY DEVOTED TO YOU- Olivia Newton-John- This was a good song. 2. KISS YOU ALL OVER- Exile- This song appears on the Compact Disc to which, in the song at #10, I referred. I have read that one of the singers in this group, Jimmy Stokley, is deceased. 1. BOOGIE OOGIE OOGIE- A Taste Of Honey- It was definitely worth the wait to hear this song. I love it!
Thank you for reading.

Greetings!
I decided not to develop a list of songs from a recent episode of American Top 40 from September of 1987. This is partially because I heard many songs on another episode from around August. Both episodes contained many great songs, including some that I do not seem to hear on the radio often.
The episode from this week was from 1985. I am happy to hear this music. 1985 is one of my favorite years for music. Although some of the people have made lists, I will make one of my own. Here are some of the songs from the week of September 21, 1985.
40. SUNSET GRILL- Don Henley- This was a good song to begin this countdown. I had never heard it before. As Casey Kasem mentioned, this song appeared on his album called "Building The Perfect Beast". 39. HEAD OVER HILLS- Tears For Fears- I like Tears For Fears. I have known some of their songs for a long time. One day, I wish to purchase the album that this song appears on: "Songs From The Big Chair". 38. I'M GONNA TEAR YOUR PLAYHOUSE DOWN- Paul Young- This song sounded different from another song he sings called "Everytime You Go Away". That song was originally performed by Daryl Hall and John Oates. 37. MIAMI VICE THEME- Jan Hammer- I have never seen any episodes of Miami Vice, however I liked this instrumental song! According to the data on my Compact Disc, this song peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in November of 1985. It also peaked at #5 on the Media Control Charts in Germany. 36. NO LOOKIN' BACK- Michael McDonald- This was a great song. I can easily recognize the voice of Michael McDonald. 35. FOUR IN THE MORNING (I CAN'T TAKE ANYMORE)- Night Ranger- Yet another great song. 34. LIFE IN ONE DAY- Howard Jones- This was one of my favorite songs on this countdown! Howard Jones sings many great songs. 33. NEVER SURRENDER- Corey Hart- This is a very inspiring song. 32. SHOUT- Tears For Fears- This is the second song from Tears For Fears to appear on this chart. In August of 1985, it reached the #1 position on the Billboard Hot 100. 31. THE WAY YOU DO THE THINGS YOU DO/MY GIRL (LIVE AT THE APOLLO)- Daryl Hall, John Oates, David Ruffin, and Eddie Kendrick- This was an excellent live performance of two great classic songs! 30. LOVIN' EVERY MINUTE OF IT- Loverboy- This song reminded me of Def Leppard. I think it was due to the way that Mike Reno sang in this song. 29. I'M GOIN DOWN- Bruce Springsteen- This was a great song. 28. I GOT YOU BABE- UB40 with Chrissie Hynde- I liked this performance! Chrissie Hynde is a member of the group The Pretenders. 27. SHAME- The Motels- This was a good song. 26. EVERY STEP OF THE WAY- John Waite- This was another good song. I hear his big hit, "Missing You", on the radio often. 25. C-I-T-Y- John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band- I do not seem to hear this song on the radio. 24. PART TIME LOVER- Stevie Wonder- I believe that this song peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. 23. FORTRESS AROUND YOUR HEART- Sting- This was a good song. A few years ago, I recorded another song he sings, called "If You Love Somebody, Set Them Free", from the radio. 22. THERE MUST BE AN ANGEL- Eurythmics- I did not hear a lot of this song, but I liked what I did hear. 21. SUMMER OF '69- Bryan Adams- I hear this song on the radio a lot. It seems that in the year 1969, Bryan Adams was about nine years old. 20. SMOKIN' IN THE BOYS ROOM- Motley Crue- I think I heard an older version of this song on another episode of American Top 40. 19. CRY- Godley and Creme- This was a great song. 18. YOU'RE ONLY HUMAN (SECOND WIND)- Billy Joel- People make mistakes. It is a part of who we are. This is what he is singing about. 17. DANCING IN THE STREET- Mick Jagger and David Bowie- This was a good duet. 16. FREEWAY OF LOVE- Aretha Franklin- This was a great song. Aretha has peformed many great songs. 15. LONELY OL' NIGHT- John Cougar Mellencamp- This song appears on his album called "Scarecrow". I like it! 14. SAVING ALL MY LOVE FOR YOU- Whitney Houston- Whitney Houston had such a beautiful voice. She sang this song with much perfection. 13. TAKE ON ME- A-ha- This was a great song! I hear it on the radio often. 12. INVINCIBLE- Pat Benatar- This song gives me courage. I learned of Pat Benatar in 2004, when I purchased a Compact Disc that contains songs from her and the group Blondie. 11. DARE ME- The Pointer Sisters- I like many songs from this group. 10. DRESS YOU UP- Madonna- I also like many songs from Madonna. The version of this song that I heard on the episode seemed different from the one that I normally hear. 9. OH SHEILA- Ready For The World- This song reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in October of 1985. It is great! 8. THE POWER OF LOVE- Huey Lewis and The News- This was the first song from this group that I learned. It reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. 7. POP LIFE- Prince and The Revolution- This was a great song. I also liked the story that Casey Kasem told before this song began. 6. FREEDOM- Wham!- What a lively song this is! I really enjoy the horns at the end of it. 5. DON'T LOSE MY NUMBER- Phil Collins- Sometimes, I have trouble understanding his voice when he sings. However, I really like his music. 4. WE DON'T NEED ANOTHER HERO- Tina Turner- This song sounds very similar to her other song "What's Love Got to Do With It". 3. ST. ELMO'S FIRE (MAN IN MOTION)- John Parr- Whenever I become sick, I like to listen to this song. It helps me to feel better. 2. CHERISH- Kool and The Gang- This was a great song. 1. MONEY FOR NOTHING- Dire Straits- I believe that Sting sang some of the vocals in this song. I hear this song on the radio many times.
Here is my extra song.
ICH BIN STARK NUR MIT DIR- Mary Roos- This is a German version of a song called "You're My Heart, You're My Soul", recorded by a group called Modern Talking. I like both versions.
I have finally created a full list. For the other lists, I only listed some of the songs on the charts for that week. Thank you for reading.

Greetings!
I am listening to American Top 40 The 1970's. Although I am not familiar with many of the songs on this episode, they are still great. It even contains some surprises. I will list some songs from the week of September 9, 1972.
40. 31. MY DING-A-LING- Chuck Berry- This song was funny! The audience really sounded alive. 29. SPEAK TO THE SKY- Rick Springfield- This was a great song. Rick Springfield would continue to have more success as a singer. He is also an actor. 28. NIGHTS IN WHITE SATIN- The Moody Blues- Although I am not familiar with this song, I do know some of their songs that were released in the 1980's. 27. LOOKIN' THROUGH THE WINDOWS- The Jackson 5- This was a good song. 26. BEN- Michael Jackson- I liked this song! Michael's voice was great. 24. (IF LOVING YOU IS WRONG) I DON'T WANT TO BE RIGHT- Luther Ingram- I do not know many of his songs, but this one was great! 23. POPCORN- Hot Butter- This instrumental song reminded me of a video game. I have hunger! 22. EVERYBODY PLAYS THE FOOL- The Main Ingredient- This song makes me think. 21. PLAY ME- Neil Diamond- There are several songs on this list in which I cannot recall the sound. This is one of them, however I did like it. 20. RUN TO ME- The Bee Gees- I am not familiar with many of their songs from the early 1970's. I have heard their song called "Lonely Days", and they reminded me of The Beatles. 19. MOTORCYCLE MAMA- Sailcat- This was a good song. 18. POWER OF LOVE- Joe Simon- This was another good song. I do not remember this song, or the previous one, well. 17. JOIN TOGETHER- The Who- I do not hear this song on the radio. I liked it. 16. BEAUTIFUL SUNDAY- Daniel Boone- I regret to say that I cannot recall the sound of the song. 15. GO ALL THE WAY- The Raspberries- I liked this song! I believe that singer Eric Carmen, who sang songs such as "All By Myself" and "Make Me Lose Control", was a member of this group. 14. GOODBYE TO LOVE- The Carpenters- Richard and Karen Carpenter wrote and/or performed many beautiful songs. 13. HONKY CAT- Elton John- I am familiar with many of his songs, however I do not know this one. 12. HOLD YOUR HEAD UP- Argent- Casey Kasem told a story involving this band. At one of their performances, there was a fear that a member of the audience possessed a bomb! Fortunately, it was something else. 11. THE GUITAR MAN- Bread- This was a good song. In August, I heard another song from them, called "Make It With You", on American Top 40. 10. SATURDAY IN THE PARK- Chicago- This was one of my favorite songs on this countdown! I hear it on the radio often. 9. BLACK AND WHITE- Three Dog Night- This was another great song! I know the songs "Joy To The World" and "Shambala" also. 8. YOU DON'T MESS AROUND WITH JIM- Jim Croce- This song reminds me of another song he sang called "Bad Bad Leroy Brown". 7. ROCK & ROLL, PART 2- Gary Glitter- This song makes me think of sporting events. 6. BACKSTABBERS- The O'Jays- This is one of the first songs on this list that I learned. 5. BRANDY (YOU'RE A FINE GIRL)- This song tells of a bartender named Brandy who works in an area where sailors visit. She falls in love with a sailor, however he loves his job too much to form a comittment with her. This was one of my favorite songs on this countdown! 4. BABY DON'T GET HOOKED ON ME- Mac Davis- This sounded like another song about honesty. The sailor in the previous song was an honest man. 3. I'M STILL IN LOVE WITH YOU- Al Green- Sometimes, I hear this song on the radio. I liked it. 2. LONG COOL WOMAN- The Hollies- I also hear this song on the radio at times. However, I thought that it was from a different group. 1. ALONE AGAIN (NATURALLY)- Gilbert O'Sullivan- This really is a depressing song. He goes from a discussion about being abandoned at the altar to the death of his parents. However, Mr. O'Sullivan sang it great. I learned of this song in January on another episode of American Top 40. I think that it was a special episode, because songs from different years of the 1970's were featured.
This was a good episode. Although this period was long before I was born, I recognized some songs. Thank you for reading.
