I recently listened to a show from Casey's second run on AT40. As we all know, he'd long switched from Billboard to R&R by this point and any reference to previous chart data used R&R as well. What struck me in this particular show was that he ended one segment with "25 years ago this week, the #1 on song on American Top 40 was MacArthur Park by Donna Summer." Of course, that song hit #1 on R&R, but not Billboard.
I thought that was weird. If I'd been a writer for the show, I'd have worded it differently, maybe just saying "The #1 song in the USA was..." Specifically stating it was #1 on AT40 was probably even more confusing for people who listened to AT40 during its original run.

Well, color me embarrassed. I must have been thinking of the original, which hit #2.
Is there a moderator who can delete this thread? I'd rather this little blunder be removed from the forum, but I can only delete individual posts, not the entire thread.
