I think I know which site this got copied from (which is the 7/3/1982 Billboard chart). Top 40 Weekly 1982-07-03I believe the number after the label are weeks on the Hot 100, and the number in parentheses is peak position.

So which four wound up in the year's top 10? I'll guess Toto, McCartney/Wonder, Cougar, and Survivor.

So which four wound up in the year's top 10? I'll guess Toto, McCartney/Wonder, Cougar, and Survivor. Toto fell just short - it was Human League. But it was a pretty good week for songs that had staying power. It's probably some year in which fewer songs made the Hot 100. So I think we can rule out the 1960s. 1 "Physical" Olivia Newton-John 2 "Eye of the Tiger" Survivor 3 "I Love Rock 'n Roll" Joan Jett & The Blackhearts 4 "Ebony and Ivory" Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder 5 "Centerfold" The J. Geils Band 6 "Don't You Want Me" The Human League 7 "Jack & Diane" John Cougar 8 "Hurts So Good" John Cougar 9 "Abracadabra" Steve Miller Band 10 "Hard to Say I'm Sorry" Chicago

chrislc ... I located a chart where five of the Top 7 songs would become Top 10 songs for the year. It's the 12/28/85 Hot 100: #1: "Say You Say Me" by Lionel Richie would be the #2 song for 1986. #2: "Party All The Time" by Eddie Murphy would be the #7 song for 1986. #3: "That's What Friends Are For" by Dionne & Friends would be the #1 song for 1986. #5: "I Miss You" by Klymaxx would be the #3 song for 1986 thanks to spending 29 weeks on the Hot 100. #7: "Broken Wings" by Mr. Mister would be the #5 song for 1986. Given the slowness of weekly charts around Christmas, I wonder if other weekly charts from late December and/or early January might have multiple Top 10 songs for a particular year.

Wow! What are the odds? I wonder if there was another week - ever - with even the Top Six, or Top Five, even. Heavens to Murgatroyd.
