Top 40 songs including the phrase "dig it".
There must have been at least 50.
Grazing In The Grass - Friends Of Distinction Smiling Faces Sometimes - Undisputed Truth
Let's see how long it takes to get the other 48 or so.

Though it missed AT40 reaches, the #43 song in 1986 by Wax called "Right Between the Eyes" featured towards the end of the song some "Dig it" lyric lines.

Who could forget one of the most annoying songs of the 90's 1993-Tag Team "Whoomp! (There It Is)"

Yes, I think "dig" might get us to my estimate of 50, but "dig it" was probably too restrictive.

Everybody Plays the Fool-Main Ingredient (...well, before you do anything rash, dig this…) Thank you! Been driving me crazy since I first saw this thread: "What's that song with the spoken 'Dig this' in it?" Just couldn't place it. Only one I'll add is The Beatles' "Don't Let Me Down" ('B' side of "Get Back", reached #35 in '69). John says 'Can you dig it?' in the fadeout.

If we're just saying "dig", then there's the obvious "I Dig Rock and Roll Music" by Peter, Paul, and Mary.
And "Diggin' On You" by TLC, if that counts.

It only made it to #50, but Bridget the Midget had a fan in the crowd hollering “I dig it, I really dig it!” They told him to sit down, that he couldn’t come on the stage and he replied “But I dig it!!”… poor guy, he was just digging the Queen of the Blues. Not sure how he felt about Freddie Feelgood and his funky little five piece band.

And will this fit the category? In early 1980 a song called "Dig The Gold" by Joyce Cobb missed AT40 territory peaking at #42 (The song entered on Billboard's Hot 100 on 11/24/1979 - The same date of the AT40: The 70's episode Premiere has yet to air!)
