Bob Kingsley You will be missed you were to country music what Casey Kasem was to the top 40. Question is I don’t listen to many current radio shows who now hosts the show since Bob was ill and who is going to host now that Bob has passed away second question if anybody hears of a tribute show to Bob and a station I can get it on in New York Post.

Reading a couple of the articles, it sounded like he had substitute hosts lined up for a few weeks out, in the hopes he would return. From there, I’m not sure what the future of CT40 will be or what tribute shows there may be, and it probably wouldn’t be appropriate to speculate yet what that might be. Far as Kingsley and his illness, my gut tells me he knew he’d been ill for some time but — except for his family and others closest to him — kept it private, and that he would continue working as long as his health allowed. I know he announced to his fans that he hoped to be back but im guessing he knew he wasn’t returning. Very sad. As I noted elsewhere on this site, so many memories listening to him. Thankfully, we have our memories and “ACC Rewind” to fal back on. Brian

Does anyone know the last week of CT40 that was hosted by Bob? I know this past weekend (10/12 & 10/13) was the kickoff of what was to be the temporary string of female guest hosts. I read on Facebook there was a guest host the weekend of 10/5 & 10/6 as well. Had there been guest hosts back further than that, or had Bob hosted through the end of September?

Martina McBride hosted this past weekend. Tricia Yearwood is scheduled for next weekend. Scott Gaines guest-hosted the weekend of 10/5. Bob's last show hosting was 9/28.
I just found out about Bob's passing right before work. Feels like a punch to the gut. He'll be deeply missed. More to come...

Thanks for the link, Brett. I shared it on Facebook.
Bob's smooth, easy-going delivery endeared him to fans of all music genres. I wanted to have that voice for just one day. No doubt he's up there sharing countdown stories with Casey right about now.
I still remember hearing him for the first time. It was one of the four weeks that "Wink" by Neal McCoy was #1. It was instantly apparent that Bob didn't "DJ it up." He just delivered the goods, and it was refreshing. RIP.

You could tell he wasn’t well, but it wasn’t until February of that year he was diagnosed with Lymphoma. He died like 9 days later. Sometimes for whatever reason these diagnoses come and it’s not long after. Whatever the case, this all sucks. My wife’s grandfather died last month and now Bob dies this month. And I’m pretty sure no one expected it this fast.

It sounds like ACC will honor Bob Kingsley during this weekend’s show, part of the “Hero of the Week” segment. Kix Brooks also posted some heartfelt comments about their relationship and how he and Ronnie Dunn always liked hearing Bob announce that their latest song had just reached No. 1.

His delivery was still spot on and he still delivered his best work, but his voice wasn’t near as crisp as the vintage Kingsley. Brian

Sept. 28-29 weekend was his finale. I’ll see if I can confirm. Also, it appears that these special “CT40 Women Of Country” shows will run through at least Nov. 30-Dec. 1. I suspect they’ll be extended through the end of 2019 and the last regular show (Dec. 21-22 or Dec. 28-29). After that, I’d guess probably a substitute host for the year-end (and perhaps a decade-end) show. Thereafter, I can’t and won’t speculate. Brian

Lisa Taylor had guest-hosted on the 9/14 show, which was the third time Bob had taken off all year. (She also guest-hosted on 2/24/2018.) Scott Gaines filled in on the 10/5 show. Hopefully his show will continue like AT40 has, although in that case, a new permanent host was named long prior to Casey's passing. Time will tell. No matter what happens, we'll have lots of ACC Rewind to enjoy.

While I am not much of a country music fan, Bob's delivery on ACC made the show enjoyable; he will be missed. By the way, Bob's conversational style (sounding like he's recounting information off the top of his head) is the same I've tried to use my self.
R.I.P. Bob.

IIRC, Bob usually took no more than three vacations a calendar year — and thus turned the show over to a guest host — over 41 years of hosting ACC and CT40. Sometimes he’d be on every show over a period of more than a year. I know Charis Music Group has an ACC cue sheet from a guest-hosted 1982 show that indicated that it was Bob’s first week off in two years. Brian
