Maryland (Baltimore and/or Chesapeake Bay) turns up in Bruce Springsteen's "Hungry Heart", Starbuck's "Moonlight Feels Right", and J. Geils Band's "Angel In Blue", off the top of my head. Also arguably Fleetwood Mac's "Silver Springs". John Denver's "Take Me Home Country Roads" not only mentions West Virginia, but it's the state's official song. And Denver of course name drops Colorado in several songs (i.e. "Rocky Mountain High"); heck, his own stage name effectively did. West Virginia also gets a nod from the Stylistics and "Rockin Roll Baby" as Bluefield, WV is mentioned. Interestingly enough, Bluefield's sister city, Bluefield, VA, gets a shout out in the aforementioned "Oh Virginia".

I did think of another Virginia song. Also has Delaware in it. Though I don't think Wrecks-n-Effect were talking about US states in "Rump Shaker" π²π

A couple of Sheryl Crow songs:
"All I Wanna Do" mentions LA in the intro, and "Leaving Las Vegas".
I'm sure she's got more, just can't think of them right now.
ETA: Charlie Puth's "Attention" mentions LA.

Wisconsin is mentioned in "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald". Also mentions Detroit and Cleveland. Detroit is where the ship was said to be headed, but the lyric was changed since they couldn't think of a fitting word that rhymed with Detroit (not that "feeling" exactly rhymed with Cleveland).

Did "Kentucky Rain" ever spend time on AT 40 or did it just miss it?

Did "Kentucky Rain" ever spend time on AT 40 or did it just miss it? Missed it by almost three months. April 11 1970 was it's last week on both the 40 and the 100. It's higher-charting follow-up, "The Wonder of You", was on the first four shows.

"Dani, California" was mentioned earlier for various states mentioned. One of them is North Dakota, which I don't think we have mentioned. Another is Indiana, which is mentioned in "Dani" as well as "Mary Jane's Last Dance". I don't think John Mellencamp ever mentioned Indiana in any of his songs, however. At least not by name.

Was "Rhode Island" ever mentioned in any Top 40 hits?

Was "Rhode Island" ever mentioned in any Top 40 hits? Sort of, barely, if you count C.W. McCall's "Wolf Creek Pass" (#40 in 1975), which mentions driving a truck full of "Rhode Island Reds" (a chicken that serves as the state bird). "Thank U" by Alanis Morrisette and "Meant To Live" by Switchfoot both mention "providence", but I'm thinking they refer to the concept, not the city. Two songs mentioning RI that weren't top 40 singles but are well known are "Rock and Roll Band" by Boston and "The Last Resort" by Eagles.

I remember that, on the NES version of Family Feud, one of the Fast Money questions was "Name a state you rarely hear about". Rhode Island, with 34 points, was by far the #1 answer (all the rest had point totals less than ten). So that made me wonder about that state mentioned in songs. "Wolf Creek Pass" would count, though I wouldn't be surprised if that was the only Top 40 song that mentioned RI.

Likewise, I'm not sure if New Jersey was mentioned by Springsteen (or Bon Jovi) in any of their Top 40 hits. Of course, Springsteen had "Atlantic City", but it didn't chart.
