Not sure about Springsteen or Bon Jovi, but Billy Joel did (Hackensack) in "Moving Out". He also mentioned the Jersey Shore in "Allentown".

If "Stick Season" by Noah Kahan reaches AT40 (it's #24 on Mediabase), it may be the first Top 40 hit to mention Vermont.

If "Stick Season" by Noah Kahan reaches AT40 (it's #24 on Mediabase), it may be the first Top 40 hit to mention Vermont. It probably is the first AT40 hit mentioning Vermont (Noah’s home state). Though “Moonlight In Vermont” is a pop standard, it long predates the countdown (Margaret Whiting charted with it in 1944.)

The latest is “Texas Hold ‘Em” by Beyoncé. Texas is also referenced in the lyrics to Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face.”
