David Cassidy passed away Tuesday, November 21 at the age of 67. He had recently admitted he was suffering from dementia. On November 18 he was admitted to a Florida hospital suffering from organ failure and in need of a liver transplant. He was the teen idol of the early seventies, rivaled by only Bobby Sherman and Donny Osmond. As his star faded, it led to a tumultuous rest of his life marked by highs and lows which were well documented. As lead singer of the fictitious Partridge Family (David on lead, step-mother Shirley Jones on backing vocals, and the Wrecking Crew providing music and additional backup) he charted 7 Top 40 hits. Three reached the Top 10 with "I Think I Love You" topping the charts for three weeks beginning 47 years ago yesterday. He would chart 5 Top 40 hits as a solo artist, reaching #9 with his cover of "Cherish" in late 1971/early 1972. He was a big fan of the blues, especially B. B. King. He played in blues bands prior to stardom. One of my favorites of his is this TV theme from the mid-90s. Skrewy St. Louis Blues (John Larroquette Show) - David CassidyObituary
