The Bronx-born rapper has scored her first Billboard No. 1 with debut single "Bodak Yellow," making her the first female rapper in nearly 20 years to hit the top with a solo billing.
The 24-year-old is just the second female rapper in history to have a No. 1 song without any other artists featured on the track.
The last female rapper to have a solo No. 1 hit was Lauryn Hill in 1998, when "Doo Wop (That Thing)" ruled the charts for two weeks. Since then, just three other female rappers have managed to score a Billboard No. 1, and not without some help: Lil' Kim's 2001 hit "Lady Marmalade" featured P!nk, Christina Aguilera and Mya, Shawnna was featured on "Stand Up" by Ludacris in 2003, and most recently, Iggy Azalea's "Fancy" in 2014 got an assist from Charli XCX.

It's beyond terrible. The lyrics and beat are as generic as it could possibly get...I expected there to be like a neat chorus or something as I was listening to the song because it's usually the very musical rap numbers that have major success on the pop charts, but that's just not the case.
And it replaced a Taylor Swift "song" at the top that was anything but. Both tunes are basically proof of how successful an artist can be on the charts when they already have a built-in following.

Can't stand her (Cardi B) song and the song that debuts at #2 on the HOT 100 this week "Rockstar - Post Malone Featuring 21 Savage. Also the song that jumps to #8 "Rake It Up" - Yo Gotti Featuring Nicki Minaj. The lyrics are so bad. So much profanity. I don't see how these types of songs continue to be so popular. Guess morals don't exist anymore. I know if I was twelve years old again, I wouldn't be listening or buying this type of music. One time there was a disco backlash. I just wish there would be a hip hop backlash.
