There is the problem. People like that wife who does not want to hear "Driver's Seat" more than once. A straight ahead pop song like that getting that treatment means hundreds of straight ahead pop songs are not getting played either. I will keep not listening to radio thank you.

All I get from your article is that a terrestrial station that uses research will do better in the ratings than one that doesn't. It won't necessarily be a better station.
In all the years that we have listened to and cared about radio, has any of us had the opportunity to participate in this research? Has anyone taken one of these tests or surveys? You only contact the people whose knowledge of music is rudimentary at best. It's never folks like us who really know it and really love it.

Right - but us music and radio fans don't make up enough of the listening base to pay the bills and keep the lights on at the station. Bottom line is that Ratings = Better Station, even if you don't like the content. You can have the best sounding station in town, but if the mass audience doesn't like the music, they aren't going to listen. Here is another interesting one.
