MTV is doing a tribute marathon of his videos now. Yes, MTV...the channel that actually used to air videos 24/7 is airing some again now.
Unfortunately there's a downside. In this age of automation and hiring 20 year olds with no clue of music history (you don't need any to work on MTV so why bother having it), someone typed in "Prince" to their video system and I guess got all the videos and loaded them up. This includes videos for DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince.

This makes three 80s pop icons having passed in the last decade. Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and now Prince - all died in their 50s. I certainly hope Madonna is not next.

Picking my favorite Prince song(s) is like picking a favorite child. But here goes:
Top 5 all time favorite Prince songs
1.Little Red Corvette (1983) 2.The Most Beautiful Girl In The World (1994) 3.7 (1994?) 4.Raspberry Berret (1985) 5.When Doves Cry (1984)
Honorable mentions
Let's Go Crazy Purple Rain U Got The Look (with Sheena Easton) Love Song (never released. Duet with Madonna. On her "Like A Prayer" album) Darling Nikki Money Don't Matter 2night Batdance Head Controversy I Want To Be Your Lover Sign O The Times Manic Monday (which he wrote for Apolonia 6, eventually recorded and became a huge hit for The Bangles) Nothing Compares 2 U (Sinead O'Connor recorded and had a Number one hit) When U Were Mine (Cyndi Lauper covered and included on her "She's So Unusual" album) Kiss (who can forget that scene in "Pretty Woman" when Julia Roberts sings, off key in the bathtub, or for that matter Tom Jones' horrible cover) Diamonds And Pearls Cream Gett Off

Then why are you posting for? Um, because it's news? I just meant that I was I shock. That's all . Yeah I understand.. I can't believe Prince died of a sudden. But the thought of you saying "I can't deal with this" means I thought you get upset and don't want to post or talk about Prince..

We are not even 5 months into the year and now Prince is the latest musician to pass too soon. It's scary to think that there is still a significant portion of 2016 to go through. Just last week on the B show (4-19-86) , Prince had written the #1 and #2 song on that week's survey. I don't think we'll see a man in the music world with such great talent whether it was performing, writing, producing, and the countless instruments that he could play in our lifetime again. I have always thought that Michael Jackson was the best entertainer, but Prince was the best musician when comparing the two. Prince R.I.P. Another talent we have lost way too soon.

And "Purple Rain" was also the final song played last Night by Jimmy Buffett in his amphitheatre concert here in Raleigh last night. I knew it was coming the whole time because a colleague said they heard his band practicing the song in the afternoon. BTW, with all of the deaths of 2016, don't forget one that occurred shortly before the year began, that of Natalie Cole.

Rest in peace Prince, here he is with Jeff Lynne, Dhani Harrison and Tom Petty when they inducted George Harrison into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame from 2004.
Sussudio's synthesizer riff was heavily criticized for sounding too much like Prince's 1982 song "1999", my favorite sung by him, which was re-released the previous year and is a similarity which Phil Collins does not deny, saying that he is a big fan of Prince's work.
A favorite song Prince wrote using the pseudonym "Christopher". From one of my favorites. Manic Monday which was released on Monday January 27th, 1986, by Columbia Records, received generally positive reviews from music critics and some comparisons with The Mamas & the Papas' "Monday, Monday". It became The Bangles' 1st hit, reaching #2 in the USA.

It was on Twitter and I even posted a photo of what was on my TV to fb yesterday. Tbh, I was confused. I did not know when I first got home MTV was doing anything. I flipped there to see a Prince video and was like "ok they are actually doing a Prince tribute, cool." But then the next thing I see is DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince and I started questioning if I had gotten in a time machine or what. So I checked Twitter and discovered that had been happening all afternoon and it was because of the name "prince" in the artists name.

I don't get it: for the last ten days there has been this big Prince love fest. Yet as far as American radio is concerned, he might as well have been dead for the last 20 years. I wish music directors would have shown this much love for his new stuff when he was still alive. The same thing happened with Michael Jackson. His top 40 career tanked after 1995, but after he died everybody loved him again. I've never understood the sudden surge in sales after a musical artist passes away, but it's been going on as far back as I can remember. It's just more obvious in the digital era.
