I have wondered what people thought of the Show and music from that episode. As with most of the other Eps. (probably all of them), there were some from well-known performers, as well as those who did not have many hits. Some of them (such as the band Crabby Appleton, who sang "Go Back") had only one Song to appear in the Top 40. And then, others that I liked were "Loveland" from Charles Wright And The Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band, "Lay Down (Candles In The Rain)" from Melanie Safka, and "Ride Captain Ride" from Blues Image.
When I heard it last Summer, it just felt so cool. Most of the Songs I didn't know, but I really liked hearing the Episode. As I wrote my Critique about it last Year, I had a lot of fun.
Still, if you did hear it back then when it first aired, what did you think? Or even if it was some time afterwards. (Because, for me, it was 44 Years after!)
I'm sorry if there was already a Thread about this.

I really started paying attention to the music played on the radio in 1969. At40 came along in my town in February 1971. I first heard Episode 1 in 1975 at the 5 year anniversary. The music was incredible, as all of 1970 was in my book! When I listened just last year it was even more intriguing hearing songs like Go Back, Summertime Blues, Love Land and Spill The Wine. I wish it could be on this year at its 45th anniversary. I feel you on this one, jamie9012!

Perhaps Premiere Networks will feature the show for a third time this summer-It previously aired in 2007 & again in 2010-It's also on the I-Heart Radio Classic AT40 stream.

My area had one of the original seven affiliates, KHYT, but I'm pretty sure I did not happen upon the show until the third week. I was instantly hooked!

So did mine (WPGC), but I wasn't even born until five years and two months later. (Speaking of WPGC, that was probably where Tina from North Springfield, Virginia was listening to AT40 in 1976 when she wrote a question letter to Casey that was answered in the countdown rebroadcast this week.)

Along with the several great, rarely heard songs already mentioned from this episode I'll add Flaming Ember "Westbound #9"

Along with the several great, rarely heard songs already mentioned from this episode I'll add Flaming Ember "Westbound #9" Ditto to the Flaming Ember (and Crabby Appleton!), and I'll offer "A Song of Joy" by Miguel Rios. Beethoven rocks!

It aired for the first time in stereo last year on IHeart's Classic AT40. The stereo version was also offered to all of Premiere's 70s and 80s affiliates as part of the Casey tribute package.

Beethoven rocks! I liked "Westbound #9" and "I'm Not My Brother's Keeper" another Song from The Flaming Ember. I started listening in the 1990s, and I also liked it very much! Also, "A Song of Joy" was good! It was a big hit in Germany and Switzerland.

He is apparently not on this forum but is on the AT40 facebook page. Rich Appel heard the first show in 1970.
