Michael Brown, keyboardist for the Left Banke passed away March 19. He co-wrote their only Top 10 hit "Walk Away Renee" (#5) which was also a Top 20 hit for the Four Tops. He exited stage right from the Left Banke in 1967.
In 1970, he joined forces with Ian Lloyd forming Stories. He played keyboards on their lost 70s classic "I'm Coming Home" (#42), but was an ex-Stories when the band reached the top of the charts with "Brother Louie".
He joined the Left Banke in various reunions through the years, most recently a couple of years ago.
Michael alone wrote the Left Banke's other Top 40 hit. It reached #15 on the charts, and was covered by John Mellencamp as a live "B" side to "Rain On The Scarecrow".
