My Top 36 songs from the 2/2/85 countdown (song titles only, lots of absolute faves in bold)^:Top 10: All of 'em! I Want To Know What Love Is, Easy Lover, Careless Whisper, You're The Inspiration, Loverboy, The Boys Of Summer, Like A Virgin, I Would Die For You, Method Of Modern Love, The Neutron Dance#11-20: Run To You, The Heat Is On, Solid, Call To The Heart, Jamie, L ove Light In Flight, Sugar Walls, Foolish Heart #21-30: All of 'em! Misled, The Old Man Down The Road, California Girls, Jungle Love, Mr. Telephone Man, I Can't Fight This Feeling, Born In The USA, Money Changes Everything, Wild Boys, Tenderness#31-40: We Belong, Do What You Do, Rockin' At Midnight, Private Dancer, Too Late For Goodbyes, Relax, Lovergirl, Naughty Naughty^ If my math is right, this countdown ties a countdown from '84 for most favorite songs at 36. The four that didn't make it? * All I Need by Jack Wagner: Perfectly adequate tune and nothing more. The song sounds a little flat, like it's not quite on key. * Operator by Midnight Star: Good chorus and I love the digitized "Operate on me" voice dude. I don't care for the group singing in the verses, and I hate the female operator's voice ("Sir, could you please speak up...")... cringe-worthy. * Mistake #3 by Culture Club: The only bad song on the countdown (IMHO). Mistake #4 was releasing this song for Top 40 airplay . * Only The Young by Journey: Close to making my favorites cut but not quite. The percussion seems muted throughout the song. ** Frankie Goes To Hollywood gets my 80s Pick Hit this week. I'm afraid to admit this but many times, I love songs just for the music... I don't exactly pay attention to the lyrics. I just sing along to the words. So yeah, if I'm in the car driving down Michigan Avenue in metro Detroit singing out loud to tunes like, "Relax" or "She Bop" or "Me So Horny" or "I Touch Myself" or other raunchy songs... they're so catchy musically, I can't help it !: My Top 29 songs from the 2/5/77 countdown (lots of absolute faves in this show as well:Top 10: Torn Between Two Lovers, Dazz, New Kid In Town, Hot Line, Blinded By The Light, Love Theme From "A Star Is Born", I Wish, Enjoy Yourself, Walk This Way#11-20: Lost Without Your Love, I Like Dreamin', Fly Like An Eagle, Weekend In New England, You Make Me Feel Like Dancing, Somebody To Love, Dancing Queen, Year Of The Cat*#21-30: Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing, Night Moves, You Don't Have To Be A Star (To Be In My Show), After The Lovin', Don't Leave Me This Way, Go Your Own Way, Tonight's The Night (Gonna Be Alright)#31-40: Stand Tall, Livin' Thing, The Things We Do For Love, Carry On Wayward Son, Rich Girl * Al Stewart gets my 70s Pick Hit this week. This would make my all time Hot 100... it's a masterfully produced tune, and awesome musically and lyrically. Here's to long instrumentals both in the middle of the song and at the end!:

2/2/85:Billy Ocean - Lover Boy General Public - Tenderness Kool & The Gang - Misled REO Speedwagon - Can´t Fight This FeelingTeena Marie - Lover Girl Too late for goodbyesWith immediate effect, Great Britain is no longer a member of the EU. 47 years after joining the Union and three and a half years after the Brexite referendum, the British left the EU at midnight. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson sees a "new era", the EU wants a "new beginning". In any case, the relationship between Brussels and London does not end with the withdrawal: negotiations about the future will soon be underway. So, with good reason here is my special "Hits from the Brits"-edition for this week: 2/2/85:Duran Duran - Wild Boys Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Relax John Parr - Naughty Naughty Julian Lennon - Too Late For Goodbyes
The Honeydrippers - Rockin´ At Midnight An Austrian extra: Spinning WheelSpinning Wheel ? Well, Falco earned his money at that time as bassist and singer of a dance band, a commercial part, as Viennese musicians call it. This is how the early days of the city´s eternal pop figurehead, Hans Hölzel alias Falco, can be described. And this band called " Spinning Wheel" played a special role in Falco´s life. Well, that was more than 40 years ago. But now Spinning Wheel is back. A reunion of a special kind. On board are the original members Rudi Staeger, Wolfgang Staribacher, Peter Vieweger, Bernhard Rabitsch, Andreas Kolbe, Wolfgang Steirer and Christian Rabitsch. Falco is missing, of course, but Gerhard Mayer replaces him courageously. Here´s a song from 1981 - Spinning Wheel with "City Girls": from my musical category "daydreamer"My motto: "Not always the often heard hits."

His father Mongo, his aunt Ceija and his uncle Karl were among the few family members who survived the terror of World War II. When Harri was six years old, his father gave him a plastic guitar, which he learned autodidactically. His role model was the Beatles guitarist George Harrison, from whose name he derived the spelling of his first name " Harri". His professional career started in 1970 with the formation Jano + Harri Stojka. Some time later, the very young Harri joined Karl Ratzer Gipsy-Love´s band as bassist, only to make his mark again as guitarist with Peter Wolf´s "Objektiv Truth Orchestra" shortly afterwards. After this band split up, Harri founded the " Harri Stojka Express" in 1973. In 1981 the " Harri Stojka Express" was the only Austrian group besides Jimmy Cliff, Eric Burdon and Carlos Santana to play at the Open Air Festival in Vienna´s Prater Stadium. Shortly afterwards, an offer followed from Montreux, the Mecca of all jazz musicians, where Harri Stojka performed alongside Larry Coryell, Bireli Lagrene and Harri Pepl in the "Guitar-Summit". This performance in front of a very critical professional audience, where he was also praised and acknowledged by world-class musicians, was a great success. The album "Live at Montreux" recorded there provides an impressive testimony to this event, which is certainly a key experience in Harri Stojka´s career. At the latest since this time Harri Stojka advanced to one of the most respected Austrian jazz musicians. Walter Richard Langer, one of Austria´s most distinguished jazz experts, once wrote about Harri Stojka: "A lot of blues feeling, immense guitaristic technique, which is presented with so much playful sovereignty that one almost takes it for granted." The philosophy behind his music is simply fun, joy in music. Although Harri Stojka has already made a large number of recordings, live concerts have always been and still are the top priority of his artistic activities. Probably also because it´s precisely the direct interaction in live music that enables him to convey his qualities even better to his audience. Harri Stojka is a musician who is constantly developing and is open to new trends in music. His versatility allows him to convince one hundred percent in various projects. This results in the many different projects. Here are Harri Stojka and his Express with two songs - "What A Funky Night" (1983) and "Somebody Like You" (1985):
