It had been many years since I last heard one of the first Shadoe hosted AT40's, so yesterday I listened to a little of one from 9/10/88. I have to say it's a good thing ABC reeled him in some in the coming months to a year. He went on and on and on and on about a Robert Palmer story at #2, and even #1 he seemed to drag out longer than necessary. Then the ending credits were another where it wore out it's welcome.
I still think these AT40s all the way through 91/92were the better show compared to CT40 from it's inception until sometime in 92 even if the chart by then was not. But those were some things I definitely noticed about the really early ones.

With that observation, a question I asked myself a while ago, which do you think had the better "sound" (host and show features, not music)
Early Shadoe or 87/88 AT40 Casey when he sounded his most natural and least scripted? Which of course was the last we would ever hear of him that way

I'd say original host, original show, chart that mattered (I know you didn't want music but it really doesn't influence this) = Casey wins. Hands down I think Casey is the best host of AT40. But when he switched to WW1, it took ABC ruining Shadoe for him to regain that in my opinion. Too formulaic, too scripted, too micro managed it seemed, way too many d**n dedications, and for the first couple of years commercial breaks! I guess it was the same number per hour as when he was on AT40 but it seemed like a lot more.

Congrats. That win over the Saints is about your biggest in years.

Not so much here. Jags still suck and the Bucs just got screwed.
