Just read this morning that he had died. He was the lead singer of Survivor, the 80s band that gave us "High on You," "The Search is Over," and "Burning Heart." But the song they are most known for, was the 1982 smash hit from the movie Rocky III, "Eye of the Tiger." It spent 6 weeks at #1 and ranked as #2 in 1982.
Condolences to his family and friends.

Jimi did not sing Eye Of The Tiger.Dave Bickler was the lead singer then, but Jimi did sing Burning Heart from Rocky IV.Last year Bickler rejoined Survivor so they had both singers in the band .
RIP Jimi

"They" refers to Survivor.

What is gonna be interesting is how many radio stations around the US will erroneously play "Eye Of The Tiger" as a tribute to Jamison's passing. I'm certain there will be at least one.
I also didn't realize he was the same age as Robin Williams. RIP, Jimi.

What a shame. Burning Heart is one of my favorite Survivor songs.

My personal favorite has always been "I Can't Hold Back" from the album Vital Signs back in 1984. And even though the hits like "Eye of the Tiger", "Burning Heart", "High On You", and "The Search Is Over" were bigger smashes, don't forget their 1986/87 Top 10 smash "Is This Love?" and 1988's "Didn't Know It Was Love" - I don't remember how this last-mentioned charted back then.

Had the pleasure to attend a PBS "Soundstage Show" that never aired. Don't know why; it was a lot of fun. Introduced by Chicago radio legend Bob Stroud, the show was hosted by Jim Peterik (Survivor/Ides Of March), an 80s retrospective of sorts. The Ides of March served as the house band. Guests included Martha Davis of the Motels, Ray Parker Jr., Mickey Thomas (Elvin Bishop Group/Jefferson Starship/Starship), Don Barnes (38 Special), Donnie (38 Special) and Johnny (Lynyrd Skynyrd) Van Zant. Peterik and the Ides threw in a couple of their tunes for good measure (Vehicle, L A Goodbye)
The show also featured both Survivor lead singers, Dave Bickler and Jimi Jamison. They were both great and the comraderie with them and Jim Peterik was wonderful.
If that wasn't enough, the show concluded with a 4 song set from Night Ranger. Everyone was singing "(You Can Still) Rock In America" at the top of their lungs!
RIP Jimi and condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones. Thanks for being a part of a great night I'll always remember.
