105.7 The Walrus from San Diego CA are airing the #1 of the 70s part 2 show Sunday at 6am local/9am EDT www.walrusfm.com/category/american-top-40/This Sunday’s program is the second of a three part series featuring the number one hits of the 1970s. The four hour show will begin at 6am with the following songs from June 1972 – January 1974. I thought it was in four parts. There's no way they can finish otherwise. Yeah, i'd go w/ what the others on here say. I copied that line from The Walrus website. I'd guess whoever wrote it isn't aware how many parts there actually are.

Ken Martin, the man who put it together, said it was 6 parts.

Thanks again to Ken Martin for putting this series together. I found Casey's tribute to Jim Croce particularly touching. (By the way, what original show did that come from?) 10-20-73 PROGRAM #734-3

Thank you Walrus for playing Yesterday Once More by The Carpenters which you could not hear because of I-Heart stuff last night which lasted at least four minutes on Grace internet radio instead of the song.
Burning Love by Elvis Presley wasn't play on the Walrus.

Yup..that 1st segment of the 1st hour really threw me off. Thought I was listening to the #1 Hits of the 70s Part 1 show for a moment. Curious as to why both these segments were in both shows...any answers there Ken???

Curious as to why both these segments were in both shows...any answers there Ken??? Timing. When I put the show together I found that I made each hour too long. I needed to shrink the length of each hour by a few minutes. I only discovered the mistake AFTER part 1 had already shipped to stations. The next time part 1 airs it will be the correct length and will not have the duplicated songs. Plus, you'll be treated to montages of the number 1 songs of '70 and '71 as you'll hear in part 2.

Thanks Ken for this response. Looking forward to the new Part 1 with the montages. You may want to check the opening of the 1st segment of the 1st hour of part 2 show. It may be an editing error but while Casey was doing his intro to the countdown explaining that..... "Last week we went from Jan 1970 thru May 1972 which means we're up to June..." then suddenly there was a jump to a billboard logo just before "I'll take you there". Sounded a bit off IMHO.

There were a butt load of edits right there to get Casey to say what I needed him to say. In that span of 19 seconds for the opening monologue, there are 16 edits, most of them clustered at the end where he's giving dates. As it turns out, the word "June" is made up of 2 different occurrences of that word. I knew it was a little "off", but felt it could fly.

I give you all the props one can over what you've done and I guess are doing still with the 70s and 80s. The fact that you are painstakingly going through these shows and editing them together the way you are is awesome. I think I speak for most everyone here saying we appreciate it the hard work.

Totally agreed Paul...I try to edit shows from different sources when I don't get a a complete recording but I'm sure no way close to what Ken and Shannon has done to preserve IMO these national treasures. Great work guys and thanks for making this 4th even more memorable since the passing of Casey. BTW Ken it can fly.

Are you referring to the WODC broadcast last night? My recording had an 11.75 second gap that I ended up patching myself, but otherwise was a smooth broadcast. Kudos to Mike Eiland for not sacrificing the extras, too!

With part 3 over Labor Day weekend, where does 4, 5 and 6 go? Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's weekend? Not sure when they'll place the fourth one, but I'm thinking that, in place of a year-ender, they'll play Part 5 on the weekend of December 27-28 and Part 6 on January 3-4. I would doubt that they'd play Part 4 on Thanksgiving weekend, since many stations will be in Christmas mode that weekend.
