Earlier this year I took about 2 months off listening to the 40, 30, 20, and 10 years ago shows and then took 2-3 weeks to catch up on them just before Casey died. However I knew I heard AT40 back in 94 every week so I passed by them while trying to do so. Now I'm caught up on everything and am listening to those two months worth of Shadoe shows. Listening to 4/23/94 now.

Someone should have used their brain back in 94. If you must loop anything, "Return to Innocence" is possibly the last song anyone should have ever thought was a good idea to do so with. Oh that was awful. Aaaahhhh oh waaayyyy yaaaahhhh ohhhh ayaaaahhhhoooohhhhh aaaaaaahhhhhhhaaaaahhhhhhhh over and over and over and over and over again!!!
And while I'm at it, this version they play of "Baby I Love Your Way" is awful.

I've gotten up to 6/24/78... with that crazy first hour: A Joe "You Light Up My Life" Brooks song not by Debby Boone, a Bee Gees song by Rare Earth (!), and a KC song not by him... dL

AT20 from 7/4/09, Casey's final show. Listening to it for personal reasons more than as a tribute to Casey. This is my final week living in Florida after 6 years and 2 months. While I have had some good times, it has also been a challenge and I have hit some personal lows. The summer and fall of 2009 was actually one of the lowest points of my life, and Casey leaving his shows just made it even worse. So as I prepare to head back north next week, I wanted to hear the conclusion of Casey's career as I hit the conclusion of a roller coaster of a chapter of my life. It's amazing how some of these songs just take me right back to those days (just like the 2004-2007 AT20's take me right back to college and my radio days)

So as I prepare to head back north next week, I wanted to hear the conclusion of Casey's career as I hit the conclusion of a roller coaster of a chapter of my life. If you heard Ryan Seacrest's AT40 this past weekend, then you probably heard him play a piece from Casey's last broadcast when he was recapping the history of AT40 before playing the #1 song.

CT40 from this date in 1995 and I have just run across the biggest disparity so far in R&R and Hot 100 peaks. Had mentioned Stacie Orrico peaking in the 50s on the Hot 100 with "Stuck" that reached 11 on R&R. And Garbage had a similar fate with "Special". Well, just heard a song by Nelson that I was surprised to hear in the first place because I thought all their hits were in the early 90s. But their "All Shook Up" made it onto CT40 despite only reaching #102 on the Hot 100...well it didn't even reach the Hot 100 obviously!
On another note, Casey just mentioned a new technology called real audio technology. It's the streaming that we all use today. But this seems to be the first mention of it and it was limited to AM stations when it came out back then. A company in Seattle was developing the technology. Casey mentioned how a station in Los Angeles was heard in Luxembourg and Latavia. Always interesting to hear Casey mention new inventions at the time of the show. Heard a show in the 80s not too long ago that mentioned CDs when they were just coming out.

How does a song reach #102 on the Hot 100?

How does a song reach #102 on the Hot 100? I guess if you count the "Bubbling Under" positions. "Ultimate Music Database" often does this, sometimes going down to #135 or so.
