The past few weeks I've listened to AT40 (and a few CT40) Year-Ends from 1977-1991. I also listened to AT20 HAC year-ends from 1998, 2003, and 2005. Working on CT40 1993 year-end now.

CT40 from 1/7/95. Casey made a mistake on this show that took me over an hour to realize. Said "Say You Say Me" was the #1 song 10 years ago this week. It was not until he mentioned the #1 song from 5 years ago that week in the next hour that it occurred to me that SYSM could not be #1 in Jan. 1985 because that was a hit at the end of 85 not the beginning.

Given the weather conditions at my place in Nebraska, I decided that Alaska couldn't be to far off, so I thumbed through TUNEIN a while ago, and found a station in Anchorage called Q99.7 which is airing a Rick Dees Weekly Top 40 show from Jan 8, 1994. That took me back to high school and all those songs at the time. A weird thing is going on though. I don't know if this guy is Larry Morgan or not, but he is doing radio station identifications in the commercial breaks stating that " potty break is over and zip up"LOL

AT40 from February 19, 2000. All the talk about "American Pie" in the 70's thread with it at #1 on next week's 1972 show - Madonna's remake was a debut on this 2000 show.

Now, time to kick off 1988 with January 9.
A week where the biggest move on the entire Hot Hundred - 13 notches - was also a bulletless one. ("Never Let Me Down Again" by Depeche Mode, 96-83.) Actually, just one record below #76 was bulleted: The week's sole debut, "Love Overboard", at #82.

My favorite band hits #40 for one week, the only time The Cure hit the countdown in the pre-Shadoe era.

Casey's Top 40 from June 21, 1997. Earlier, I was listening to a show from the start of "Semi-Charmed Life"'s chart run, now I've got a show from near its beginning.

Ever wonder if Casey went through an entire show without saying the word 'week' or 'weeks'? I mean everything is usually about last week, this song was here or such and such had been in the top 10/top 40 for so many weeks. Well, in the 1/11/97 CT40 he is avoiding those words at all costs. Says Donna Lewis has been in the top 10 since July. Has mentioned other songs being in the top 40 since August, September, that Merrill Bainbridge had been at #2 for the last month. And so it goes. I think he is trying to keep it a secret that R&R did not publish charts the previous 2 weeks. Or at least trying to avoid having to take those weeks into account for chart data. Who knows, just strange hearing him use 'months' instead of 'weeks' all the time.

I'm just starting that countdown, dl. I heard him mention R Kelly's song at 40 being on the chart since August. I think by that point, he was getting tired of talking about the same songs every week for months on end, and was just trying to switch things up.
Earlier today, I embarked on my year-long effort to hear every 1986 show, one per week, starting with 1/11.

January 16, 1988. Was hoping that the 23rd would've been this coming weekend's repeat.
