10/6/79 right now. A great show--so far not a bad song in the bunch (maybe save for Mary MacGregor) and a few great lost hits, including:
"Hold On" Ian Gomm "Rolene" Moon Martin "Arrow Through Me" Wings "Where Were You When I Was Falling In Love" Lobo and possibly my fave song on the entire countdown, "Get It Right Next Time" Gerry Rafferty
And I'm just starting the 3rd hour! Great show...too bad the post-disco era ended up going so ballad-heavy instead of staying just like it was during this time.

A week before this show had recently aired, I put some of these songs on my SPOTIFY playlist. I did like the song from Lobo, and Moon Martin's "Rolene." "Rolene." sounded a lot like a hybrid of AC/DC's "Girls Got Rythym," and a different "Martin" of sorts- singer Martin Briley from 1983 "Salt In My Tears" That song sounded a liittle out of place for its time. More like a song from 1982/1983.

AT40 from November 28, 1998. A great mix of Lilith Fair style singer-songwriters, teen pop, alternative rock and R&B, takes me right back to my grade 11 year.

Just finishing up the show from a month before the previous one posted...10/24/98. You know Casey mentions the #1 songs from 20, 15 and 10 years earlier when he says "The #1 song from x years ago was..." They were "Whenever I Call You Friend", "King of Pain" and "Groovy Kind of Love". You know Casey never did the shows when those songs were #1 because all three are referring to the R&R CHR chart which had songs that did not hit #1 on the Hot 100 in the case of the first two. The last one was when he was not counting down any chart during his sabbatical between AT40 and CT40, though it did hit #1 on both charts.

SPOILER ALERT! I'm listening to the 10-29-83 show which aired LAST YEAR! Although I think that the 83 show has a better offering of songs compared this week's 87 show, (87 is one of my LEAST favorite years of 80's music) I don't see the point of re-airing a show from just a year ago.

Glad they changed the wording later on to "The #1 song on our survey was....", so he could say what the actual #1 song on the Hot 100 was when he was doing the older AT40.

And now I am listening to one of the shows Casey referenced, well maybe. Not sure if he referenced 10/22 or 10/29/88 when he says 10 years ago but I am listening to the latter. Heard a story for the second time that is right up there in most incredible story department. Before Breathe's "How Can I Fall?", he told a story of the biggest fall someone has taken and survived. A stewardess on an airline in Europe fell over 30,000 feet after the plane she was in burst and was destroyed. Every bone in her body was broken according to Shadoe but after 4 weeks in a coma and well over a year in the hospital, she fully recovered. Like I said, quite a story!

Listening to Casey's Top 40 from 8/24/1996. Actually a lot of good stuff on this chart. Sadly, I am missing 7-1.

I'm also in a 1996 Casey mood - but I'm listening to November 30, 1996.

AT40 from 11/3/90. Shadoe does a report on the Billboard "Hot Black Singles" Chart changing it's name to the "Hot R&B Singles" chart. The name would change 3 more times since then. I found it interesting the chart was founded in Oct 1942 and named "The Harlem Hit Parade" then changed to "Race Records" in 1945. Those names wouldn't fly today for sure: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_R%26B/Hip-Hop_Songs

11/3/1990 had double George Michael, who is a favorite artist of mine. "Freedom" debuting, and "Praying For Time" sliding down. Those two are actually my two favorite songs on my personal 1990 chart.
