I wouldn't miss Casey's voice. I'm all in favor of the guest-hosted ones being aired.

I don't like to complain too much about edits, but the edit of "Beds are Burning" in the 6/18/88 show was really abrupt. Verse, chorus, verse, and then stopped cold, right in the middle of the song. And it came shortly after an unusual Hour 2 ending, no less - a tease for a Question Letter, then the theme drops in, Casey says but one line...and that's it.

Have I been daydreaming or did I hear on the 6/30/1979 AT40: The 70's episode that the #4 song "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge was heard with the second verse of the song cut out?

Premiere edited 'Bette Davis eyes' in the top 3 recap. I distinctly remember hearin' it, unedited, when it 1st aired on WBBM-FM, in '81.

Is it some sort of unwritten rule by Premiere, that, whenever 'Eyes without a face' is on the show, ALWAYS edit out the 2nd verse? If it is, that's STUPID!

Observations on "Eyes", as I have all the shows from 1984, mostly originals, with a few from Premiere: (1) All the Premiere versions I have, indeed, have the second verse edited out. (2) The originals aired the radio edit during most of its run (clocks in at 4:14), except for all four July shows and the 8/18 show, which used the longer version (4:44) but the intro was edited the same as the radio edit. I noticed on the 8/18 show the song was edited in right after Casey's intro. And Billy Idol's "Eyes" would close forever right after, as it dropped out on the 8/25 show, which aired last year. Another observation: Some things are just like clockwork around here. ETA: Yet another observation: In the last four years, we've heard all four August 1984 shows (with 8/11 a repeat from 2012, 8/18 aired in 2013, 8/4 in 2014, and 8/25 last year) - and if you include 2012, that's now five consecutive years hearing an August 1984 show.

I guess we'll have to listen to the full version of 'Eyes' only on YouTube. You'd think that Premiere could edit some other songs, to make room for the full version of 'Eyes'.

Another song I've noticed that seems to be a Premiere target for the second verse chopping: "Mary's Prayer" by Danny Wilson. Great tune, too. (At least on the 8/1* and 8/15 shows - not sure about the others.)

Eyes Without A Face is one of the many songs that get edited because they are easy to edit without sounding like they were edited. Most people don't have the ear to tell the difference.

On the 8/5/1978 show "Copacabana" had the second verse cut. It doesn't sound right when they cut a story song.
I think "Boogie Oogie Oogie" was also edited.
And this was just 3 weeks before they added the Long Distance Dedication.

Copa was edited by Premiere. Boogie was edited originally. That segment is rather hilarious because Boogie was almost edited down to 2 minutes while the next song "An Everlasting Love" was not edited at all and was nearly 4 minutes long. Casey said that was headed to #1. So they m'ust have thought 'we cannot edit a future #1 hit'. Except they DID since Boogie was the future #1 hit and not Love! BTW, I edited in the long version of Boogie. No way I am going to hear that show again with THAT great song edited.

On 8/24/1974 the second verse of "Beach Baby" was cut. Looking at the cue sheets I am guessing it was Premiere that did the cut.

Another prime target for editin' is 'Lowdown' by Boz Scaggs. 2nd verse edited, yet AGAIN, on the 8-28-76 show.

Another prime target for editin' is 'Lowdown' by Boz Scaggs. 2nd verse edited, yet AGAIN, on the 8-28-76 show. I also noticed Tavares' "Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel" severely edited on the 8/28/1976 AT40: The 70's episode as well while listening to it on WLS 94.7 FM Chicago this Sunday evening. - Original or Premiere?

Also, another target is 'Take my breath away' by Berlin. I wonder if Premiere's ever aired it, unedited. I'd sure like to know.
