A few observations: The 1971 AT 40 sure sounded like stereo to me!! In the past when recording pre-1972 AT 40, I almost always recorded in mono. But I didn't think to set it up that way this week. Almost all the songs in the countdown were stereo... and this from several different stations in addition to KOKZ (the primary station I use since the demise of Smooth 70s) Anyone counting on CKWW should check their stream. Both the high and low bandwidth streams were just static buzz for me Sunday morning. Hopefully, it will be working by countdown time Sunday evening. I got the 1976 AT 40 from WLS, but haven't listened to it yet. Thanks for the heads-up on WLS playing all three extras. I may still do a little more chasing around for the 1976 "B" show to see if I can find a higher quality stream. Also, thanks for the heads-up on Radio Gold. I will try to catch the replay on Tuesday. Hopefully, the ending of Daylight Saving Time in Europe this weekend (a week earlier than in U.S.) won't foul that up... For anyone keeping track: WCFR currently playing 1976 (the "B" option). I don't think they play extras. They have a decent sounding stream (112 kbps in player of your choice) and run the 70s, then the 80s shows back-to-back starting at noon on Sundays. And their streams have the strangest url: wntk.no-ip.org:6040/WNTK is a news-talk station in the same region (perhaps same owner; will check sometime) but the stream is definitely WCFR.

Two unusual (?) occurences heard this weekend;
In the 1971 show Casey mentioned Isaac Hayes climbing from #50 to #9. In the two years that I've been listening to the shows I can't recall him mentioning a previous week position outside the Top 40.
In the 1976 show he mentioned that Rick Dees had fallen to #2 but retained a bullet. I can't recall him mentioning any record having a bullet on the other shows I've heard.

He did both on at least one other occasion. On the November 7, 1987 show, when "Is This Love" by Whitesnake debuted at #30, he said "Moving up eleven notches to debut on the countdown at #30..." Also, on the May 21, 1988 show, the week that "Shattered Dreams" fell to #3 with a bullet.

Does anyone ever have issues with using the player off of WODCs site directly vs. using the link over in the 70's Stations thread? I missed the first 4 songs (and if anyone could help with that, it be appreciated) by trying to go off of their site directly. It was about 9:08 by the time I wised up and tried the link over on the other thread, when things started working.
Having said that... are there any remaining October 1976 shows yet to air? That entire final hour (aside from the Bay City Rollers, perhaps), I don't think there's a clunker in it.

I got the stream up and running about 20 minutes early as it takes me a try or two to get iHeart to load. And luckily I began recording about 5 minutes early--the AT40 actually started a couple minutes BEFORE the hour! (and ended almost 10 minutes past the hour!) I agree that the show and the presentation were excellent!

Even with the Bay City Rollers tune, I agree that show had one of the best final hours of any show I can remember. Very good overall show.

(If there was one clunker in the last hour that was it, as Rick Dees might humourously agree.) There was also the Top 40 Beatles Era songs, aired 10/2/76, which was the biggest hits of 1964-70 (only five are by the Beatles.) Since that's almost all 60s music I wouldn't hold my breath for it, though I could conceive of it being a B-type offering sometime.

Go away for my wedding anniversary and see what happens... I set dar.fm to record 5 stations, guessing who would play 10/23/1971. 2 played 10/23/1976; 2 glitched out and did not record; the fifth (WSNV) played 1971, but the recording started in the middle of #37. Go figure; the best laid plans of mice and men and all that.
