We're a long way out on AT 40, but I truly believe Lorde has a solid chance to go to number one with, "Royals" (Just debuting on AT and Dees, #3 Hot 100). Since she is not 17 yet, that would put her in rare air. Since Debbie Gibson did it at 17 with "Foolish Beat", and 18 with "Lost In Your Eyes" what other teenagers sang and wrote number one hits on AT 40 (not the Hot 100)? On a side note, "Royals" is the first number one with a female solo on the Billboard alternative chart since Tracy Bonham in 1996. Or a few months before Lorde was born! I'm getting old

Avril Lavigne was 17 when "Complicated" hit #1 in 2002, and 18 when the two followups "Sk8er Boi" and "I'm With You" did the same.

I don't know if Tiffany wrote "Could've Been". I know she definitely sang it, and I think she was 16 or 17 around that time.
I wonder if Britney Spears fits this category as well with "Baby One More Time" and/or "Oops (I Did It Again)"?

"Could've Been" was a song before Tiffany got a hold of it. Britney didn't write either of those songs. But she does get credit for having the only number one that starts with a punctuation mark that is not a parenthesis on "...Baby One More Time"

I'm pretty sure that Jojo was 13 or 14 when she hit #1 with "Leave (Get Out)" in 2004. I don't remember Ryan introducing her as the youngest solo female to hit #1 back then, however, when she had a song as a Break Out last year, Ryan mentioned that fact, and also that she was the first solo singer born in the 1990's to have a #1 single.
