Was anything ever mentioned about 9/11/01 on "American Top 40"? I remember that the station around me that was playing the Flashback show did not air the one that was supposed to air the week of 9/15/01, but was just curious if it was mentioned in the weeks and months that followed on the regular show.

I can't answer you about AT40, but I think that as far as "American Country Countdown" was concerned, they might have mentioned something starting with the Sept. 22, 2001, program. (I'd bet the same was true for AT40.)
My guess was that the Sept. 15, 2001 shows (for all syndicated programs, both AT40 and ACC, Rick Dees, etc.) were pretty much in the can prior to the attacks – and it's a fair guess that many affiliates were still airing 24-hour news coverage of the attacks yet on the weekend, and as such didn't air the regularly scheduled program.
I do remember "Rock & Roll's Greatest Hits," which was still airing live on Saturday nights at the time, had a brief statement by Dick Bartley about the attacks and that he would concede airtime to any breaking news if needed; many of the songs I think were dedications to victims, loved ones in the military and emergency services and a few of the typical 1960s ballads (the show was heavily 1960s-slanted at the time, and still airing a little bit of the 1950s and early 1970s).

There were at least 2 LDDs (AT40/AT20) in the months following 9/11 that dealt with the tragedies.
Also, on AT20, I remember stories on the remixed version of Enya's "Only Time" and how the proceeds of that version went to the fire fighters who were killed that day. There was also a story on how the meaning of "Superman (It's Not Easy)" by Five For Fighting changed after 9/11. I imagine that the same stories appeared on AT40 but I wasn't following it as closely as I was AT20 at the time.

Kind of odd that AT40 had a guest host (Ed McMann) only right before.

The program was still being distributed on CDs in 2001 and, if I'm mistaken, delivery of the show was delayed because the FAA grounded all flights for days, including USPS and UPS freight shipments.

I'm sure it was delayed. As it was the week of the 94 California earthquake though for different reasons.

I remember learning that the show that got delayed due to flights being cancelled because of 9/11, that was the show that the first song from what would be Michael Jackson's last studio album Invincible, called "You Rock My World", debuted that week. "Hit Em Up Style" by Blu Cantrell was #1 during the dire times. Needless to say, given the lack of flights in the days following 9/11, the previous week's show was replayed by OZ-FM on 9/15/2001 due to not having the episode sent to them in a timely manner, though it was nice to hear the tribute to the late singer Aaliyah for two weeks straight.
As for the following week's show (9/22/2001), there were definitely at least two LDD's related to 9/11. One of the songs was "I'll Stand By You" by The Pretenders, and another was "We Are The World" by USA For Africa. They were quite fitting for the occasion, it seems.
Aaliyah's death was pretty sad, but 9/11 made me cry even more.

And does anybody have the 9/15/2001 episode in their collection? PM me, please, if anyone has a digital copy of such show.
