Luther is all over this survey isn't he! Couple of his own hits and then he was in on 2 Cheryl Lynn songs and of course the best of them all, Aretha's mammoth comeback hit, on the soul chart anyway. A bunch of great tunes from the likes of Stephanie Mills, Shalamar, Chic, Peabo Bryson and many more from the year that is known for all the chart craziness on the Hot 100. But it should also be remembered for the segregation of the charts. A lot of songs on here that never came close to appearing on AT40 that certainly should have.
And I am back BTW.

Not to mention all the '70s acts who made an R&B chart comeback in 1982: Tavares, Barry White, War, Z.Z. Hill, Odyssey, Bloodstone, Bobby Womack.... An interesting year for black music, to be sure!

Kashif is well represented as well, producing songs for the likes of Evelyn King, Melba Moore, and Howard Johnson.
