As you all know, I've mentioned American Top 40's sister program, "American Country Countdown," extensively in my posts. From referencing the show to suggesting (at times) that Premiere will decide to air a rerun of one of the shows (which now we've established – and I get (although admittedly still reluctantly) – is not happening) ... you've all read a lot of connections between AT40 and ACC and songs played on both programs, particularly 1973-1984. For historical reference only, this Saturday marks 40 years since the following memo was distributed to AT40 affiliates -- and likely as well, prospective affiliates of this new program: charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/07-06-73%20Memo.pdfWhich does bring to mind the following question: "Do you think 'American Country Countdown' will acknowledge its 40th year later on the anniversary weekend, or will it go quietly?" (Anniversary weekend will probably be Oct. 5, 2013.) If so, how? Anyway, a little "show and tell" for you for this weekend. Incidentally, I've heard that Charis has also remastered the programs ... is there a chance that those cue sheets will also be posted somewhere, such as at Charis, for those who are interested? Brian

I would imagine Kix will mention the anniversary or maybe even do a special show in honor of it. Country musics format is different in that unlike CHR, you will still occasionally hear a song or two from the 70s, 80s, and 90s on them. However, personally speaking I won't listen since I think ACC sucks now.

As far as AT40 – I'd imagine the first show to air in the October-December 1973 timeframe (could be the show referenced from the list leaked earlier this year, maybe a different show) will make some reference to it, along with a crossover song "that was heard on some of the first ACC programs," and of course said song will be one that had debuted in the Hot 100 and would possibly later become a top 40 hit (and thus, be heard on AT40). We shall wait and see ... . Brian

I wonder if it's only a coincidence that ACC debuted at the time that one of the all-time biggest country crossovers was in the Top 40 (if measured by year end ranking on the Hot 100).
On a related note. how many country crossovers ranked higher than #6 on any year end Hot 100 (or any Billobard year end pop chart)? There can't be many.
