I didn't really want to start a new thread on this especially since I don't have a question or a lot to say about it but I didn't know where else to put it. I listened to this show this evening. I was unimpressed with almost all of it. However, hearing #1 and what it was made the whole show worth listening to. Now, I recommend listening to it if you have it and have never heard it or can get it.

It's a great show but there's at least one significant oversight -- "Fire" by the Crazy World of Arthur Brown fit the special's compilation criteria. But not even a mention for a song that reached #2 in 1968.

When this happens you: A.) know the shows chart relevance is worthless And in this case to justify your concern: B.) they probably forgot all about it when "ranking" songs.

If they were to play that show today ... my gut tells me that this would be an optional extra. Probably we'd also hear a song that was just making its debut on the chart in July 1973 and would be a one-hit wonder – "Brother Louie" by Stories and, from 1972, possibly "Precious and Few" by Climax. Judging by what I heard yesterday, if there were 3 70s shows available a week for stations to play this one still wouldn't make the cut.

Climax hit the Hot 100 a few months after P&F with Life And Breath... Nice song BTW.
Was expecting more instrumental one hit wonders on the show.
Another goodie for the 73 one could've been How Do You Do...
