Let's expand the "pre AT-40" genre to songs from the 60's that were originally liked or disliked, but have changed since then. I'll introduce an example of such a song that I heard this morning on the SXM 60's on 6 (satellite radio) channel: "Color Him Father" by the Winstons. Originally I never warmed to that song as I felt the story telling dragged too much, and that I didn't relate to being raised by a loving stepfather. While hearing it today -- after a 20-year absence -- I was moved by it and now like it very much.

I'd be okay with never again hearing Build Me Up Buttercup and Do Wah Diddy Diddy and Respect. Enough already.
I liked all of them way back then.

One for me that immediately comes to mind is Brown Eyed Girl. If every copy of this song was destroyed, I wouldn't be sad; I've heard it enough to last two lifetimes.
