After my weeklong Galaxy S3 debacle I have my new iPhone 5. I reinstalled the at40 app since I had the space again (got a 32 GB) and I noticed for anyone who didn't know this, the charts for the 70s and 80s are on it.

What does that mean - that the physical chart lists are there, or that they are streaming the shows? Now THAT would be an app!

One small caveat... the dates listed on the app for 1970-1989 are off by two weeks (for instance, the Top 40 chart for 10/21/72 is listed as 11/04/72). It's like that for the entire run of both decades. Other than that, pretty awesome stuff.

I just noticed something about the app. I only went back to 88 but it appears it is NOT using Billboard/AT40 info at all. I guess it's Radio & Records? Didn't really expect that. I figured it'd be Billboard until either August 13 or January 28, 1989 at which time it'd switch. Doesn't appear to be the case.

It's definitely Billboard... just off by two weeks. So for Shadoe's first show (8/13/88), you'll have to look up 8/27/88. The first AT40 (which used the 7/11/70 chart) shows up under 7/25/70. Hopefully they'll fix that someday.

Is it ALL Billboard or do they change in 88/89 to R&R?
Edit: just looked at a week in late 89 separated by 2 weeks. It is Billboards listings just 2 weeks apart. That issue seems extremely random and odd. But I really am surprised they still acknowledge Billboard post-January 28, 1989 at the latest.

Under which name can you find that app in the app store?

Yes--was just looking at some of the charts from 1987 and '88 and they certainly appear to be Billboard charts. If so, they are definitely two weeks off...

Checked the timeframe around early 2004 after the show changed from Casey (R&R) to Ryan (weird Mediabase with ancient songs) and the charts don't seem to jibe with either the official R&R chart or what AT40 was playing at the time. If someone's less lazy than I am, it could be a fun project to research to find out on what date the charts on the app actually match up with Ryan's chart.
