JR’s final episode tonight on TNT Another non-musical item here: but if you follow the revival of Dallas the series on basic cable, tonight’s episode titled “JR’s masterpiece” is the one dealing with J.R.’s character’s death. No spoiler alerts here, enough to say expect the big reunion of the principal cast from the original series during JR’s funeral.
Tonight Monday (9PM Eastern on TNT in the US or BravoCanada )
P.S. With one of the last season plots ,aired in June, in which JR faked his own death (about six months before Larry Hagman’s actual passing), I’m waiting to see how the show’s writers handle his character’s death this time around.

He did. Remember his car was found by the side of the highway in an explosion and everybody thought he died. I see if I can find the exact episode when I have time.

That was the reunion movie J.R. Returns, which aired a few years after the last season of the original series. J.R. faked his death to get access to some technology stocks that were willed to his son upon J.R.'s death. I still remember him showing up at his own funeral on the back of a pig truck.
It'll be a sad show tonight, but It'll be good to see most of the old cast again.

That was the movie JR Returns which aired in November 1996, 5 1/2 years after the original series ended. It and the second movie "War of the Ewings" have been ignored on this reboot.

I am aware of the made-for-tv movie. The sub-plot I'm talking about during last season barely lasted a couple of episodes. And he got help from one of his henchmen, maybe Steve "Bum" Jones, I don't remember exactly. I might have to go over the last season again.

He went out to Vegas, but he didn't fake his death or anything.

If you haven't seen the episode yet, don't read this.
It's half over now and I have said FOR YEARS the real villain of this show was Cliff. JR had no conscience, true. But it was always Cliff that sought out a fight with JR. JR was always worrying about Ewing Oil until Barnes would do something that in essence begged JR to destroy him again. And now they've turned him flat out evil in the new series. I wish someone would have just blown his head off at the memorial just now.
Yes, I know its just a show but man he pisses me off!!!
