According to Thursday's edition of USA Today,Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland now finds himself unemployed-Asked if he had anything to say,Weiland's response was: "Not sure how I can be terminated from a band that I founded, fronted & co-wrote many of its biggest hits, but that's something for the lawyers to figure out".

Stone Temple Pilots was pretty much out of the spotlight for some time now. They only had one big hit with "Plush", but other than that they weren't as popular a band.
BTW, did STP have a hit on Ryan's AT40 in recent years? I'd be totally surprised if a band that had a hit during the original run of AT40 had a hit on Ryan's AT40 (like I would with Aerosmith, Duran Duran, and even Madonna - though "Hung Up" was no surprise to me, and it even did extremely well given that Madonna's popularity was in decline in 2005. #11 is pretty impressive for Madonna in this day of age).

They were actually pretty popular (especially at rock radio) for about eight years, and had a modest hit with their reunion album in 2010. But you are correct, they've been out of the Top 40 spotlight since "Interstate Love Song" back in 1995 (at the end of Shadoe's run).
