Mkarns made an astute observation that "Hooked On You" by Sweet Sensation was played on one of the Premiere 1987 shows as an extra. Which means that it holds the distinction (I would assume) of being one of the very few songs that were on AT 40 in 1989 that have been played by Premiere as part of their replay of the American Top 40's.
My question is, what other songs that hit in 1989 have been heard as part of the Premiere shows? I can think of one and a half others. Are there any more?

They played Sheriff's When I'm With You as an extra during a 1983 countdown and Synch's Where Are You Now as an extra for a 1986 show.

Cool: There's three songs. So we are up to four and a half! I say "half" because of Real Life's "Send Me An Angel". It was pretty much the same song.

"Into the Night" by Benny Mardones was a hit in 1980. "Send Me An Angel" by Real Life first charted in 1984 (though the 1989 charted version was remixed.)
Also, from late 1988 (post-Casey) there's UB40's "Red Red Wine".

"Red Red Wine" would be the only other song to hit the AT 40 in the 80's twice that would include Casey and Shadoe, I believe...

There was also "Fool for Your Loving" by Whitesnake, which originally came out in 1980 but wasn't a hit until 1989. The only problem is that the 1980 version was different from the 1989 hit, and Premiere played the 1989 version.

"Sweet Child O' Mine" by Guns N Roses from late 1988 was an extra during one show. In fact, it's the only time Shadoe Stevens was mentioned: something to the effect of, this song would hit #1 when Shadoe Stevens was AT40 host.

True, although there were a couple of regular Casey AT40s in summer 1988 that included "Sweet Child O'Mine". And then there's Billboard's #1 single of 1989: "Look Away" by Chicago, which actually topped the chart in December 1988. Premiere used it as an optional extra in a 1988 show last summer.

"Fool For Your Loving" has to be one of the "youngest hits" to be heard on Premiere...it almost hit the top 40 in the 1990's. I guess that there are a few songs that were hits in the 1990's that have been heard courtesy of Premiere,"December , 1963" and "Bohemian Rhapsody" are songs that hit in the 1990's that would have been heard on a Premiere show, granted "...1963" would have been a remixed version.

Question, does Premiere in their AT40 "historical" references consider "Look Away" #1 of 89 or are they going the CT40 route and consider "Miss You Much" #1?

I totally agree. I understand why they didn't chart higher (waited too long after hitting it big in 1987), but I'd rather hear these two songs over their 1987 hits any day.

Synch's "Where Are You Now" was played as an extra on the 4/5/86 show that was aired the first week in April 2011. Can't remember when "When I'm With You" was aired as an extra...maybe on the 2/5/83 show aired in 2011? Or the 4/23/83 show aired a couple months after that?

It was 5/14; I believe the song debuted on the Hot 100 that week. Paula Abdul's "Knocked Out" (extra on 7/16/88) is worth an honorable mention, as the song just missed the Top 40 within just the first two weeks of Shadoe's run (it peaked at #41 on 8/13/88).
