Per Wikipedia,"My Bonnie" is a traditional Scottish folk song-The Beatles along with Tony Sheridan recorded their version on 6/22/61-The producer was German composer & bandleader Bert Kaempfert who had topped the US charts in January 1961 with his smash instrumental "Wonderland By Night". It has been widely acknowledged that a patron walked into a British record shop & asked the owner Brian Epstein if his store carried "My Bonnie"-Epstein said no & added that he had never heard of The Beatles-The patron suggested to Epstein that he go to The Cavern Club in Liverpool where the guys happened to be performing at the time-The rest,as they say,is history. "My Bonnie" got a belated US release in early 1964 courtesy of MGM Records-It made its official Billboard "Hot 100" debut on 2/15/64 where it would eventually peak at #26-My condolences certainly go out to Tony Sheridan's family at this time.
