www.examiner.com/list/top-ten-bands-never-nominated-for-rock-hall-of-fame4. ELO -- (Years eligible: 16) Has any other band in history blended rock with the sounds of a symphony orchestra any better than Electric Light Orchestra? The skill that frontman/producer Jeff Lynne used in crafting out radio friendly hits like "Evil Woman", "Mr. Blue Sky", "Hold On Tight" and "Don't Bring Me Down" (pre-digital era) is still unmatched by anything out there today.

Actually, I believe the Moody Blues and their "Days of Future Passed" LP is a better mix of rock and classical. But don't get me wrong -- I love both bands. And I also love Chicago's early (first 7 LPs) sound.
All 3 of these bands have paid their dues to the music world. Unfortunately, some guy named Richard Cranium is in charge of artist nominations.

The Moody Blues deserve to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame-They've sold millions of records & they have a large & loyal fan base.

All 3 of these bands have paid their dues to the music world. Unfortunately, some guy named Richard Cranium is in charge of artist nominations. Why just bands? Why not performers or groups who waited too long for Jann Wenner to let them in. They should've inducted Donna Summer while she was still alive instead of waiting for her to die to do so. I also remember the Dave Clark Five getting in after a long wait and lead singer Mike Smith dies. Major injustice on Wenner's behalf. Also Scott Shannon has publicly ranted about the fact that Connie Francis is not in. There's another injustice right there.

There are some really great songs left out of the Hall. But it is what it is, so I try to rationalize it, and I think the common thread is that there is a perception of inauthenticity - artists who "sold out" and went for pop chart hits and fame and money without paying their rock and roll dues. But it really is a gray area. I think the Eagles and ABBA were truly great, for example, but what makes them any different in this respect? Maybe they're no different, but are just too good to leave out.
