I know The Super Bowl Shuffle by the Chicago Bears Shufflin' Crew just missed hitting the Top 40 in 1986, but does anyone know if Casey ever mentioned the song, either to do a story about it or even mentioning in one of the show's promos that it might debut that week? If he did, would anyone know when? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I know it was definitely mentioned on AT40, but I am not sure if it was during Casey's or Shadoe's tenure. I am thinking that Shadoe may have mentioned it, but I am not sure about Casey. Casey would only be hosting AT40 for 2 more Super Bowl weekends before Shadoe took over as host, so I'd say there's a strong chance it was mentioned by Shadoe and not Casey. Unless Casey mentioned it on CT40 or something.

Clips of the "Superbowl Shuffle" were played by Shadoe on 1-27-90 and 1-25-92. The 1-25-92 story focused on the song.

I hope it gets played as an optional song.

It would be played as an optional song if a 1986 show would have been airing instead of 1984. So I think it's more a guarantee that "The Super Bowl Shuffle" won't be played as an optional extra this weekend. I'd be totally shocked if it was to be played.

Wasn't 1992 the year that the Bears almost made it into the Superbowl? (That would probably be the reason that they did the story on the song).

The song got mentioned in a story about Debbie Gibson entering a talent contest at her high school. She came in third place. Second place went to a friend of hers named Buddy. The winner was the high school's football team doing their rendition of "The Super Bowl Shuffle".

(That would probably be the reason that they did the story on the song). The Bears lost in the Wild Card playoffs that year. The January 1992 Super Bowl was the Redskins over the Bills, 37-24. And that unfortunately is the 'Skins last SB appearance to date. At least my other local team, the Baltimore Ravens, are in this year and won in 2001. (BTW, if the 80s AT40 doesn't appear on WQSR at its normal time, that's probably why. I'm listening to it on another station this week.)
