MUCH more added to 1971 and 1993. I could say what was added to 1971 but I want Pete Battistini to weigh in on what he and I discussed on it so I won't be a spoiler other than to say what a privilege it is for me to get to go through every box of original master tapes and discover hidden gems!!

I have not had oppotunity to review all of the recently posted material. But I peeked at some of the 1971 cue sheet and production notes.
One thing that became evident -- when engineer Bill Hergonson stopped working (temporarily) with the show. He once told me that he and fellow Watermark employee Stew Hilner were in a serious car accident around Labor Day in September 1971. You'll see Casey's note with Bill's name on one show, and the following week he noted the initials "TR" indicating that Tom Rounds had taken over the engineering duties for the time being.
And the December 1971 materials are quite telling too, one having a one-page stat list compiled by Ben Marichal that Casey used as a point of reference. Awesome program insight!

I've noticed in the past that Charis/Shannon Lynn has remastered old "American Country Countdown" programs. Any chance of a calendar for that program being posted someday?
I have not had a chance to review the AT40 sheets, but I'm sure they're very telling and revealing. Looking forward to reviewing them.
Brian

All this time I thought they were cue sheets sent to the stations, especially the ones have been posted a few years back. Thanks Shannon and Pete for what you have done to the AT40 calender.

In large part they are cue sheets sent to the stations originally.

In large part they are cue sheets sent to the stations originally. That's what I had assumed myself -- that these appeared to be the cue sheets included with the records sent to radio stations. Brian

Credit for the site really goes to Shannon -- he's the one who developed the idea, has maintained it, and has added countless rare and informative documents. By the way, did you look at the production notes for the April 17, 1971 show? After the #17 listing, there's a handwritten note from "C.B." ("Capt." Bill Hergonson) to Ron Manly about a ****-up in the master tape. A photo in the August 28, 1971 edition of Billboard has Ron Manly overseeing the in-house, tape duplicating process of AT40 programs back in the day when stations received the show on reel tapes. (I haven't yet gone back to listen to the show to determine if Bill's concern can be detected in this program.) www.charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/04-17-71.pdfMore interesting insight -- thanks, Shannon!

Another observation...
Prior to the production sheets for the September 18, 1971 program, Casey usually wrote "Capt. Billy" in the upper right hand corner of the first page of each hour, noting that Bill Hergonson was the engineer for that program. But Bill didn't engineer the 9-18-71 show due to a car accident.
Coincidentally, "I Ain't Got Time Anymore" by the Glass Bottle debuted that week. And the flipside was inadvertently played. The same wrong song was played the following week when "TR" (Tom Rounds) filled in as engineer a second week.
We may never know whether Bill would've caught the error. But it's interesting that his absence and the wrong song getting played occurred at the same time.

That was a nice story as to why AT40 played the wrong side of Glass Bottle's record for two weeks before finally playing the right version when it turned out to be in it's last week in the Top 40. Thanks for the info, Pete.
