Top 40 left Baltimore in 1990 and DC in 1992, still had Z104 in Fredrick but they didn't pick up CT40 till 1994. In 1992 CT40 was on 96.7 WQCM in Hagerstown, a rock station no less, but they dumped it in 1993. Then I was able to hear CT40 off WCEM Mix 106.3 Easton MD, which would "sometimes" come in here in the DC area, untill Z104 grabbed it in 1994. Once Z104 went defunct in 1995 (only to be later resurrected in the summer of 1996), Casey was no more listenable anywhere in the DC area, at least in terms of the Top 40. AT-20 of course was heard on a couple stations (WINC, WBQB). Do you remember what, if any, top 40 countdowns were played in the DC area from 1996-2003? I seem to remember Rick Dees being on Hot 99.5 (WIHT) early on (that station has been in operation since 2001), but I'm not sure; maybe I'm thinking of some other station. I do know that WIHT has played AT40 since Ryan took over (nine years ago this week); now they play it twice each weekend. That plus On-Air makes for a daily dose of Seacrest without exception. yes. in 1996 there were no countdowns in dc. z104 was reborn in 1996 but they didnt get djs till basically 97. i believe it was the summer of 97 when z104 started rick dees but they buried him on sat. am from 5_9. i dont think anyone knew they even aired the show. im not sure how it happened but when hot 99.5 came to the party in 2001, z104 basically handed rick dees over to them. so rick jumped over to 99.5 in 2001 where he stayed til seacrest came along. wiht still had a contract with dees so they moved rick to sun nights from 10pm to 2am til the contract ran out near the fall of 2004. thats pretty much the history of chr countdowns during those yrs. now caseys at10 show was on wash fm. not sure when they picked it up. im guessing somewhere in the late 90s. wash fm also aired at40 flasjback in 2000 & 2001. at 10 contined there till the very end. at 20 began as caseys hot 20 in the 90s on winc. at some point wbqb also picked up the show but they dumped it i wanna say in 2008? winc kept it till the end. now z104 also started their own countdown in 98 called the DZ top 20. z104 though changed formats right after wiht came around, an that was that.
