"If you could potentially rewrite AT40 history, what would be the 1979 year-end specials?" To answer that question, I would likely have given a green light to the Top 100 of 1979. That would've maintained the year-end continuity of a 100-record recap, which began in 1974. And, for the decade, I would've preferred a Top 100 of the 1970s, and aired it on the weekend of July 4, 1980 -- AT40's 10th anniversary. With the show hitting its prime (500 radio stations), and with enough advance notice to stations to align sponsors, I believe subscribers would've been happy to clear 8 hours of 4th of July weekend programming for what could've been "the mother of all countdowns!"

That answer is absolutely perfect. That would have been a brilliant move from all levels!
