From popsike.com, an original Billboard magazine ad, some other sources (i.e., websites) and memory, here's what I've gathered were American Country Countdown specials during the 1970s and 1980s (aside from year-end coutndowns):
1974
• April 6: Top 40 Country Acts (1949-1974)
• July 6: Top 40 Songs (1949-1974)
• Oct. 5: Top 40 Songs of the 1970s, so far (1970-summer 1974)
1975
• July 5: Top 40 Female Artists (presumably, from the 1930s-1975).
• Oct. 4: "B" Sides Special.
1976
• July 3: Songs of the American West. Hosted by Rex Allen. leemichaelwithers.tripod.com/acc_west.htm
• Oct. 2: Top Male Singers (presumably, from the 1930s-1976).
1977
• Oct. 29: "Ride This Train" – a salute to train songs, hosted by Johnny Cash. leemichaelwithers.tripod.com/ACC_Train.htm
1980
• Jan. 5: Top 50 songs of the 1970s.
1983
• unk., possibly Oct. 8: Book of Records. The date is a guess, but would logically make since since Oct. 8 would be the closest week to ACC's 10th year since its debut.
1987
• unk., possibly July 4: Top Female Acts of the 1980s.
1988
• May 28: Top Male Acts of the 1980s.
• Oct. 22: Book of Records II.
1989
• unk. possibly August: Top Country Hits of Elvis Presley. (At least I seem to recall an ACC-produced Elvis program airing from around this time. This may have been a repeat broadcast of a show produced some time earlier, however, and was simply airing in August to mark his birthday.)
1990
• Jan. 6: Top 40 Hits of the 1980s.
1993
• unk., likely sometime in April: Top 40 Country Songs of the 1990s ... so far.
1996
• unk., probably October: Top 40 Country Songs of the 1990s (Take 2). The top 2 positions from the 1993 special – Garth Brooks' "Friends in Low Places" and the top-ranked "Love Without End, Amen" by George Strait – were intact.
1998
• unk., likely sometime in May: Book of Records III. (At least, this was the third special.) Probably to observe ACC's 25th year on the air.
2000
• Jan. 1: Top 40 Acts of the 20th Century. Was the second half of an eight-hour special, with the Top 50 hits of 1999 comprising the first half.
• Jan. 1: Top 10 Hits – from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. The show was formatted where Bob Kingsley played the No. 10 song from each of the decades (1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s), before proceeding to the No. 9 song, then No. 8 and so forth right on up to the No. 1 song from each of the decades. The top 10 lists from the 1970s and 1980s were intact, with the new top song of the 1990s being Lonestar's "Amazed."
