I use an app called Downcast to listen to my podcasts on my iPod. There was a link to dar.fm stating you can "record" any radio show for download. Really?
So I checked it out. Had to sign up, just an email and password is all that is needed. You are given 2GB of space to record into. I set up my recording of the 80s show this weekend, and it's coming from WRIP 5am Sunday morning. Should be interesting to see how it works.
Anyone else have any dealings with them?

Yes -
The quality is "OK" but it's not tip top or over the top if that makes any sense - of course it depends on the station selected. One thing I'd suggest that you're careful of is the correct start time and if that station is continuing to run the same program. I had a couple of issues regarding that . I still use it for just one program and they've been pretty consistent and the rate is 64 rather than 128. At least I still get a chance to stay up to date with that program. The program in question is "Lost In The 80s" - an 80s Urban radio program.

I didn't realize there were choices. I'm going to grab the earliest one, WMMX, at 3am PST Saturday, which is still on the list here. I'll let you know what I get. It looks like they record from the Internet, not terrestrial.

As a user (see separate thread), I'll amend that to any station that streams in an MP3-compatible format.

So, my experience so far has been outstanding. For what I will use it for, it's perfect. I usually record the show for later listening. Sometimes I wish to listen sooner, like this weekend where I painted the dining room. When they record, it is done in 15 minute increments. That means if you start recording at 6am, by 6:15, you'll be able to listen to the first segment.
The WMMX recording I made this weekend was clear and not bad for 64k. It's an iHeartRadio stream, so I expected quality. I've been using it to time delay The Michael Smerconish show during the week, too. It's pretty good at that. With only 2GB of recording available, you have to keep on top of deleting things, however.
It says to use the RSSRadio app for listening to it on the iDevices from Apple. I've been using "Downcast" to "down"load pod"cast"s (I love the play on words, there). It also downloads your DAR.fm feed, and plays nicely there, with 4 toggle buttons for fast forwarding through commercials (2 min/30 seconds forward, and 30 seconds/15seconds back). You can also listen to the streams on their website. I haven't found how to download from their website, but it says it's limited on the free account anyway. For $40 a year, you can get a lot more storage, and download from the website unlimited. I can't see myself spending the $40, as I get as much as I'd like for free.
If you are big on listening to the 40 on your smart device (Android and Windows Phone have RSS listeners, too), recording with this website looks to be a great solution. If you want to save your streams for future use, $40 a year seems a small price to pay. Either way, I'm glad I found this website.
