I believe it was 1988 correct me if I'm wrong that AT40 went from 2 LDD's a show down to 1, just curous of why this change?

They did that because the length of songs had gotten so long that they only had time for 1 LDD, if that. Sometimes they played a LDD that was a countdown song meaning they only played 40 songs total in the show.

During Casey's Top 40, he often did 3 per week, unless there was a guest host. Three continued through the revamped AT40 in 1998 and tapered off from 3 to 2 to 1 to zero to occasional during the AT10 years.
There was a special on Valentine's Day in 2007 where I believe Casey had 4 or 5 in one week. One of them was a repeat of the 1st LDD and another was from Bill Clinton to Hilary.

Usually the guest host played the previous weeks #1 and the number of dedications was cut. I always thought 1 a week was enough personally. Do something else with those other two extras like archives or something like that.

Agreed, 1 per week was plenty for me. 2 a week in a 4 hour show was ok, but all those years of 3 in a 3 hour AT20 was overkill.

I also never liked that guest hosts read LDD's. I always thought it sort of short changed the writer and/or recipient since it didn't come from Casey.
