I use to record them on cassette in the 80's started around late 86-88, stop after casey left. didnt like the shadow era.. Lost all them. now i got a few on cd-r. and i have won 2 auctions on ebay for the albums. but they can get expensive. Now iam recording them off the radio using the minidisc format. which i love cause you can edit them perfect. cut out commericals and songs you dont want.. You can't do that on cassettes or cd-rs.. and the quality is the same ..

I use Replay AV8 and I like it a lot. I have recorded every single show of the 70's and 80's for the past 2 1/2 years and bought a few off ebay and directly from Charis Music.

A buddy of mine who worked in radio for over 20 years has a bunch of original AT40 shows on vinyl, dating from about 1975-85. He even has the original cue sheets for them all!

I record them on cassette. Have bid on a few original albums on ebay, but the price always gets up out of my range. Had really good luck finding a few vinyl copies of Dick Clark's Rock, Roll & Remember at a Portland record store a few years ago, paid around $8 for each set. I know I'll never find an AT40 original that cheap!

I get select episodes from a friend.
Some of them have not been aired by Premiere as yet (and sub-hosted episodes that will never see the light of day again).
I used to record certain songs from past AT40 broadcasts back in the day - including during the Shadoe era. I even recorded the full Top 100 of 19## broadcasts of 1987 and 1988, as well as 1990 and likely 1991. Never got to record all of the top 100 of 1992. Not sure if I recorded the top 100 of 1993, but I know I never got to record the top 50 of 1994 (and by that time, AT40 was on the way out). Plus I never got to record the original AT40 finale back in January 1995. I really am glad I came across downloading such finale prior to Halloween - the music may have been crap then, but it is still nice to own a piece of history, and AT40 making its mark to remember.
A lot of my recordings of AT40 from back in the day were on cassette, but those cassettes were getting outdated, making way for digital MP3 files. Who even needs audio cassettes now? They wear out easily, whereas MP3 files can last longer.

Places like 4Shared.com have a lot of the recent shows. Quality is hit and miss, however. I use a Radio Shark and record them from terrestrial radio. I'm hit and miss, however. I remembered the last two weeks, but forgot for a few months before that. www.griffintechnology.com/support/radioshark

I collected shows during the 90s. As of 2012 I have about 800 shows from 1970-1994. This was mostly from trades but it was all over. Nowdays I have a mishmash of cassettes, CDs and original copies. I'm slowly digitizing the entire collection and about 50% done. Currently my Ipod can easily hold my entire digitized library although it may be pushing it when I get near the end.
I've stayed away from recording Sirius/XM rebroadcasts mostly because they butcher the shows terribly in intros and outros as well as teasers.
