Hi,
This is for folks in or around Putnam or Dutchess County, NY. In 1990 and 1991, AT 40 aired on Saturday nights from 7-11 p.m. on what I believe was the frequency 96.1 ( I did not have digital tuning then). Right now, that is WPKF, a rhythmic CHR station, in Poughkeepsie NY. However, I can only trace the frequency's history back to 1995. So does anybody know what station that was that played AT 40 on Saturday nights from 7-11 p.m. I'm pretty sure it was 96.1 because it was just up the dial from 95.5, and I lived in Cold Spring, NY at the time. Any help would be appeciated.

When you mentioned Poughkeepsie, that jogged my memory. I researched a station in that area not long ago - 94.3, the former All Hit B-94, WBPM. They were a Top 40 station until May of 1999, by which time its then-owners, Walter & Jean Maxwell, were looking to get out of the radio business. So, they sold the station, and in May, the station flipped formats to "Jammin' Oldies". Today, though, you'd know them as Kicks 94.3 WKXP, a country station. Oddly enough, B-94 came to my attention through the 5/12/1990 show, which they were mentioned in. I checked out WPKF, and 1995 is when a construction permit was granted for them, so what you found is as far as it goes. The 94.3 article, though, states that WPKF is said to have WBPM's library, if that per chance interests you. Hope this is the one you're looking for!
