I remember listening to AT40's top 100 of 1998, and I was on a long car trip during the countdown. Just before the last song to close out part 1 of the countdown was played, #52 was Lisa Loeb's "I Do", and I was pulling into a truck stop along the highway to eat lunch.
When Part 1 replayed that Sunday, after #53 was over and done with, OZ-FM cut off the final segment, the OZ-FM bumper came on, and then Gary Wright's classic rock song "Love Is Alive" started playing! Must have been timing issues that caused this to happen.
I have a rough idea of what might have been #51 of 1998, but I'd like to know, was Mariah Carey's "Butterfly" ranked #51 for 1998? If not, what song was ranked #51 for 1998?

How on earth did that happen? Was its recurrent airplay really that high throughout the year?

How on earth did that happen? Was its recurrent airplay really that high throughout the year? Yeah, that song received recurrent airplay for a long time after it left the chart (which week that was, I don't know, but as long as a song was on the chart for even just one week in the chart year, and as long as it received enough recurrent airplay, it made the year-end chart).
